Lyla POV
I wandered out into the sea of people sparring. Shouts rang out around the room as instructors yelled at new recruits and grunting echoed as metal clung against metal. Smiling, I leaned against the closest wall, taking a moment to relish in the realization of how far we had come since my parents had established this movement.
Shaking my thoughts away, I felt a female presence next to me. Inwardly groaning, I looked at Leanna from the corner of my eye. I could basically feel her rage before she even opened her mouth.
"What can I do for you, Leanna, on this lovely morning? Shouldn't you be out there training?" I queried.
"I saw Trent leave your room again this morning. Don't even try to tell me he was just waking you up. I heard everything!" She seethed. I had known since the beginning that I wasn't the only one warming Trent's bed, but that wasn't what bothered me. It was this kind of interaction that really got my knickers in a tizz.
"There was no question there, Leanna. I will ask again what can I do for you?" I turned my body now to face her. I focused on her pristine appearance. She was of average height with a pixie-styled hair cut. Her dirty blonde hair stood out against her tan complexion and rosy pink lips. She wore workout attire with a very revealing bra and bum shorts. I could definitely see why Trent liked her. Heck, I would even go there if she wasn't such a whiney princess. Man or woman, it didn't really matter to me, s*x was s*x after all.
"Lyla, stay away from him. He loves me and I love him, so keep your dirty mitts off my man. Or so help me..." she trailed off, her eyes changing colour.
"Let me give you a piece of friendly advice. He doesn't love you. So, do yourself a favor and either deal with the fact that he likes variety or move on. This has nothing to do with me," My eyes narrowed at her as my hands fell on my hips.
"He does love me. I give him everything. If you didn't throw yourself at him every chance you had, all our problems would go away," she naively babbled.
"Sweety, I'm not the only one. Besides, what's so wrong about Trent wanting to spread his love with lots of people? The more the merrier if you ask me." Trent and I had an unspoken agreement that we could sleep with whoever we wanted outside of one another and that suited me just fine. Apparently, he needed to speak with Leanna because she wasn't on the same page.
"Well, I wasn't asking and you can take your advice and shove it where the sun doesn't shine."
She huffed before turning her back to me.
"Oh one more thing before you go Leanna," Before she could get a step away, my hand lashed out circling around her wrist. I tugged her back, slamming her into my chest. My other hand now brandished a silver dagger that I placed along her delicate neck. I brought my mouth close to her ear.
"Threaten me again and it'll be the last thing you ever do," I hissed, waiting a moment longer before I pushed her forward onto the ground. She shuffled back on the floor before standing and fleeing the scene. The room had gone silent. Gone was the grunting, shouting or combat clatter.
"Show's over get back to practice!" I shouted before sauntering off towards the kitchens. Coffee. Sweet, brown, delicious coffee is what I needed.
The kitchen was busy with members running around to get lunch ready. With my destination in sight, I scurried over to the freshly brewed pot of gold. While pouring my cup of coffee, my eyes fell on the exact person I needed to get my plan underway.
"Ahh my sweet Eric, you're just the person I need," I called to him as he was busy scavenging for cookies. It seemed he had found them, he looked like a chipmunk storing cookies in his cheeks.
"No one is going to steal your cookies. You can slow down," I laughed, sitting up on the kitchen counter.
"You have no idea, Lyla, this is a cookie war! Last week I only got 10 cookies compared to my usual 20! It's the one thing that keeps this man happy and someone is stealing them from me!" He screeched dramatically.
"Alright enough about your damn cookies. I need you to get in touch with our most esteemed ex-client. Tell him we want a meeting to discuss the contract we refused with him at Hellions Tavern tonight," I explained.
"You're joking, right?" He asked, staring incredulously at me.
"Am I laughing?" I stared seriously at him.
"You're asking me to contact that scumbag? For you to meet with him?" Eric shook his head.
"I need my whereabouts for tomorrow to get back to the elites. He is our best bet." I shrugged, taking a sip of my piping hot black coffee.
"Have you told Trent about this?" He asked hesitantly.
I narrowed my eyes, feeling my hands start to get hot as I felt the sparks of fire wanting to erupt.
"No. Why would I need to tell him? It's not like I need his permission, correct?" my voice came out gravelly and quiet as I fought my inner beast. This morning had definitely taken a turn from fabulous to irritating.
"How dare he imply such ridiculousness. We are owned by no man!" Lyria hissed in my mind.
"How dare he indeed," I replied.
"Correct..." Eric whispered, shuffling from side to side as he felt my aura pushing down on him, forcing him to submit.
"I will get that done for you and send word once it's confirmed," he said before he turned and hightailed out of there with cookies in hand.
"Bloody hell, one more mishap this morning and I'm going to lose my marbles. Ahh well, what better time than now to go visit our devilishly handsome witch? What do you say, Lyria?" I asked.
Lyria huffed in my mind, muttering curse words about witches. They definitely weren't favored amongst wolves. But I quite liked Yuki. He was peculiar.
