Cuco’s pov; “I have to leave,” I said to myself for the upteenth time that evening as I turned the phone sideways and held it close to the wall. A thin line flickered across the screen and narrowed my eye at it. It was static interference, short-range signal bleed. Whoever ran this place used internal comms that weren’t fully shielded. I smiled faintly. Great! The phone wasn’t connected to any network, but it didn’t need to be. I wasn’t calling anyone. I was just going to have to listen to them on the other end without then knowing. I’d find a way through that or even better, I could find out who masked man was.
