Lilian cried out in pain, holding her face.
“Damian, she’s bullying me!” She let out as she stared at Damian, looking pitiful as heck so Damian would help her.
But to her surprise, Damian ordered.
“Get out of here!”
Lilian’s eyes widened in shock.
“What?”
“Do you want me to have you thrown out?”
Seeing how upset he looked, she shamefully hurried away.
Amelia rolled her eyes and stared at Damian.
“This should be the last time I see you, Ex-husband. Don’t be a freaking pest!” With that, she turned and walked away leaving Damian feeling stupid.
He couldn’t understand why but seeing those men around Amelia had made him feel enraged.
He had always thought she was crafty, no-good and manipulative woman.
He couldn’t understand why he was starting to see her differently.
Just as she took few steps away from him, he saw another man block her path.
Seriously?!
His fist clenched as he hurried over.
Meanwhile, in a private room, billionaire Lucas Sullivan had been watching a woman.
Amelia.
She had caught his attention from when she started dancing on the dance floor. She reminded him of a woman, Raven, whom he had met before at a mask party four years ago.
He hadn’t been able to figure out her face but tonight, he felt oddly drawn to this woman like he was to Raven.
He was especially amused when he saw the two men dragging her hands on the dance floor and then one of them, Damian had succeeded in dragging her away, he saw that she was struggling with him and didn’t want to go with him.
So Lucas had followed them, he stood behind a pillar and listen to their conversation.
“I can’t believe we’re hiding here like thieves.” His friend, Mark complained for the umpteenth time.
“And why are you so interested in this woman? You don’t even know her.” Mark let out.
“Didn’t you hear what he just said? He said something about her knowing the Gifted doctor.”
That made sense to Mark. He figured Lucas wanted to approach Amelia because of that, after all, he had been searching for the Gifted doctor to cure his sister’s illness.
Both men were impressed by how Amelia fought back against Lilian.
“She’s tough.” Mark commented.
Lucas didn’t just find her tough, he found her captivating and hella sexy.
Seeing Amelia walking away, he took his chances and blocked her path.
“Hello, beautiful.” He began.
Amelia stared up at him.
At this point, Damian had ruined her night and she wanted to go home.
“How many men do I have to tell tonight that she is f*****g married?!” Damian thundered as he ran up to meet them.
Amelia was at the end of her ropes with him.
“And how many times do I have to remind you that we are divorced?!” She shot back.
“We only got divorced today and you have all these men around you, tell me the truth, Amelia, were you cheating on me before our divorce? Did you break our wedding vows?”
Amelia scoffed. “Do you have any right to ask me that? You were the one who cheated, who broke our wedding vows and now you’re crashing out seeing any man around me after our divorce?!”
Now she wondered why she even agreed to marry this punk in the first place.
He was such a pain in the ass.
She looked up at Lucas, she didn’t know much about him but from the way he was dressed, he seemed to be from the high society, she felt like using him to push Damian away.
So she took hold of Lucas’ hand.
“I think I’ve had enough for the night, can you take me home?” Amelia purred at him, hoping the man would play along.
Damian’s eyes were literally about to budge out of their sockets.
“Do you even know who you’re talking to?!”
Of course, Damian knew who Lucas Sullivan was.
Although, he didn’t know why he had approached Amelia but Lucas Sullivan had always been known to be cold and untouchable.
He was the wealthiest man in New Orleans, his wealth by far surpassing that of Damian’s family.
Damian felt so uneasy seeing Amelia holding onto Lucas, he smiled, politely at Lucas as he reached for Amelia.
“Mr Sullivan, forgive her manners, she must be drunk.”
Even if he knew Amelia wasn’t drunk, he just didn’t want her around other men.
Lucas pushed Damian away and snaked his arm around Amelia, pulling her against his body.
“Mr Wright, you’re the one lacking manners pursuing a lady who doesn’t want you.” With that, Lucas bent and literally carried Amelia into his arms in bridal style.
Amelia’s eyes dilated. She had wanted the man to play along so she could taunt and push Damian away but the man was literally overdoing it.
When she saw the stupefied look on Damian’s face, she smirked and felt the man had done well playing his part.
She leaned against the man’s chest to further drive Damian crazy.
What was Damian actually expecting?
That she would be crying her eyes out because he divorced her?
He wasn’t worth it.
Lucas turned and started to walk away with Amelia in his arms.
Damian tried to go after them but he was stopped by two hefty men.
He shook his head in disbelief.
Where was the Amelia he knew?
And why was he feeling so pained right now?
