Chapter 16Cam and Nick waited along with five or six others as several people exited the elevator into the parking garage. When everyone was aboard, two of the other people pressed the buttons for their floors, then Nick reached forward and pressed number seven. The elevator began its ascent. Everyone remained silent as it stopped on several floors. Men in three-piece dark business suits and women in conservative business dresses got on or off at each stop. Most stood in silence as the elevator continued its climb, except for two men happily discussing a meeting they’d just concluded and laughing about who they’d gotten “one over on.” When it reached floor seven, Nick held the door while Cam got off, then started down the corridor to the left.
