The meeting was set for Thursday at two. Daniel spent Wednesday preparing not in the way he usually prepared for board meetings, with financial projections and talking points and the carefully assembled narrative of a man who always had the numbers to support whatever he was saying. This time he sat in his office on Wednesday evening after everyone had gone home and thought about what was true. Just that. What was actually true. His communications director had wanted to prepare a statement. His legal team had wanted to brief him on the specific concerns Harrington had raised and how to address each one with minimal personal exposure. His CFO had sent a fourteen point document outlining the recommended approach. Daniel had read all of it. And then set it aside. He arrived Thursday
