Radius Lucis! (+10.5: Checkpoint One!)

2589 Words
As she runs straight to Minerva, Minerva points her cutlass at her, water rises from the ground, freezing at a certain height, breaking up immediately into small knife-like blades of ice. They proceed to fly towards the running girl. She held her hand out wide open which glows green, she flicks her hand to her left, suddenly the blades of ice switch directions, moving to her left. She continued running, Minerva stabs her cutlass to the ground, a small amount of water rises from the ground, quickly freezing as it expands and speed forwards, towards the running girl. The running girl's feet glows green, she abruptly jumps which sends her higher in the air than an average person when jumping, it glows again as she flips forward and lands, sending powerful air in the form of a vertical line towards Minerva. With her cutlass still in the ground and with no time to dodge, she traps her legs in ice for a short moment, her body trying to move forward as she grips onto her cutlass while the line of air hits her. Miraculously, she's still in the ground—She tanked the hit. Minerva takes her cutlass off from the ground, she now runs to the then running girl. Oh? She's running to me? Alright.. You better dodge this, because this next attack will really give you deep cuts if you don't! She runs to Minerva, they're both running to each other in a straight line, Minerva with a blank, expressionless face and the other with a confident smile on her face. As Minerva enters her range, she aims her cutlass to the ground with the hilt at the same level of her waist. It's the same spell from earlier, the now frozen water expands and speeds forward. The spell from earlier? What are you trying to do!? My upcoming spell is coming from my hand, not my feet i***t! As she was about to swipe her glowing hand from one side to another, Minerva aims her cutlass up, suddenly, a huge spike of ice quickly grows forward, a horrified expression covers her confident smile as she freezes up in the initial fear. (—not literally freeze from the magic though). This gave Minerva enough time, she pops up from the side, tackling her to the ground before she could properly react. She gets on top of her and points the tip of the blade very near her neck. "You lost, Sévircon." She stands up, resheathing her cutlass. Sanguinex blinks three times. "D- Did Gros-whatever-your-name-is actually beat me..? Damn it!" She stood up as she blurted. "The fight was going at a pretty fast pace than normal, I'll give you credit for that." She chugs on her water bottle before speaking again. "However, it looks like you didn't have a short plan beforehand incase things went south, and based on what happened, you froze up the moment I shot up a big spike of ice in front of you." "I thought I was gonna die! I need to marry Sévir first before I die- Wait no, I'll only die if he dies." "Is that how it works?" "Yeah, the only way for me to die earlier would be to break the Heart of the Blood Moon inside me—and it's basically unbreakable." She takes Minerva's water bottle, chugging what remains inside. "Well, metaphorically speaking, it's been broken by Sévir many times." She lets out a weak smile, but suddenly frowns. "Oh? Is he a playboy type?" Curiosity can be heard in Minerva's voice as she asked that. "Well, it's not like he approaches them, all the girls just approach him.. And then he just speaks to them either normally or sweetly despite having little to no interest in them, while he speaks to me the way he does." A sigh that reeks of sorrow escapes from her mouth. "It hurts me, you know? It sometimes makes me feel like I'm a pariah in his life." "..Well, forget about that, it's better to not dwell in the topic any further. Let's eat some lunch if that can cheer you up." Minerva smiles. The frown from Sanguinex's face goes away, she nods. "Yeah, I'm getting quite hungry after sparring with you for a while. Loser who arrives last pays for lunch!" She started sprinting as she held her hands wide open and shouted: "Inanis Locus!" Her hands glow green, she's suddenly able to sprint faster. Minerva draws her cutlass, pointing it down to the ground, she jumps in time as water freezes and turns to a big spike of ice, as long as a skateboard. "Inanis Locus huh? She's making an air shield to greatly reduce drag, thus making her faster even if it's just slightly. Smart move!" She points her cutlass forward, the spike of ice moves forward, easily reaching Sanguinex. "H- Hey!? That's unfair!!" Sanguinex shouted. "Save your breath for sprinting!" She shouted as she passes Sanguinex, zooming away. "NOOOO!!! I'M NOT PAYING FOR LUNCH!!!!!!!" She pushes harder to try catching up, but it's futile. ... Sévir closed the door, entering the room that can't be heard from the outside. "You called me, old man?" "Take a seat." He pointed at the chair Sévir nodded and took a seat, raising his eyebrow. "Yes, yes, I know you're wondering why I called you here. The answer is in this letter." He passes it to Sévir's side of the table. "Is this a love letter?" He opened it and began reading it. After 2 minutes, he folds the paper and keeps it in his pocket. "Really? Another gang extermination mission? Why does this organization keep sending me to these missions?" He asked with slight frustration in his voice. "This one is different from usual Sévir. You are easily our most capable and talented worker, so it would only be common sense for our organization to send you." "Yeah yeah, alright. I'm going." As Sévir walked towards the door, the old man spoke up. "Don't get too full of yourself for this one." Sévir raised his eyebrow, but shrugged it off and left. What was he talking about back there..? Is it a mission that's difficult enough where I shouldn't get too full of myself? He thought as he walked in the streets towards the destination. How about you just take his advice so nothing goes wrong? A voice asked in Sévir's head. Oh, it's you Blue. You and the others haven't been awake for a while. Blue sighed. You've barely used us at least three times in a row anyway, you usually take down gangsters with one spell of each element, so we're left asleep. So, you think we're going to fight a big shot? Most likely. Sévir puts his hood on as he gets closer and closer to the destination. We're getting near, are you ready? What's your plan anyway? Don't you have a plan? I don't. Sévir shrugged. Okay. Good luck. Bye. H- Hey!? Blue!? Don't leave me! He pleaded as he walked up to the entrance door of the destination. I'm not going anywhere you fool. Anyway.. How likely is it that there's a trap waiting for us when I open this door? He held the door knobs I'd say pretty likely, there's a window up there, go use it. Sévir looked up and nodded, he gets ready to jump as his shoes glow green, he jumps and it sends him way higher than an average person. He grabs onto the ledge and climbs up, peeking inside. Oh wow, this place is lighted up.. They're all armed and in position, it's almost like they're expecting me! When you're a gangster, you oughta stay on guard, you never know when the Little Gang Killer when strike. I'm honored. Alright! I'm going down! Wait! Sévir– Sévir jumps down before Blue could complete the sentence, as he jumps down, his right hand glows brown, as he lands, he punches the ground which creates a small crater, the gangsters are taken by surprise. Quickly standing up, he punches the hard floating pieces of the ground towards the gangsters. Most of them dodge it and rush towards him, he spins as he jumps with his hands now glowing green, wind comes out of it making a whoosh sound as it pushes everyone back to the walls. He crouches, touching the ground, his hands glow blue. Water rises from the ground, quickly turning to ice as it speeds to everyone in his sight, trapping not just their legs but their entire bodies in ice in an instant. "Is that all of them?" He asked as he stood up. Unbeknownst to him, a gangster with a spiked bat has snuck up behind him, as he was about to strike Sévir down, someone in front of them shouts: "Radius Lucis!" A narrow beam of light appears and speeds towards them, Sévir has already gotten out of the way, leaning to the right while staying in the same place. The beam hits the gangster instead, falling to the ground with a hole between his eyes. A person emerges from the dark, unlit area of the place with a staff in their hand. The person stands at around the same height as Sévir, the brown cloak he's wearing covers most of his torso, his pants, mostly black with a yellow-orange stripe on the side. The staff, red in color for the main body, a small sphere on top made of reinforced yellow mana sapphires, surrounded by a spherical cage of gold. Hey.. Isn't that a Capital Academy uniform..? Sévir asked to himself as he observed the person intently. The two stood in silence as they stared at each other, until Sévir spoke up in a deeper voice. "Who are you?" He asked? "No, who are YOU?" The other asked. "Answer me first then I'll answer you." Sévir replied. "No, it should be the other way." The other replied. "Okay- How about we both say it in the same time?" The other nodded. "Okay- 3, 2, 1-" Sévir aimed his hand, glowing yellow at the other while the other aimed his staff at Sévir. "Radius Lucis! Radius Lucis!" A narrow beam of light escapes the staff and his hand, aimed at each other's shoulders, they both dodge it by inches. Sévir quickly swipes up his left hand after dodging the beam, glowing green, a whoosh can be heard as the line of air hits and pushes the other back.. We'll call this "the other", "Staff Guy" for now. The Staff Guy still stood as he got pushed back, Sévir is now running towards him at full speed. "Thought you're the only one here who can do light magic?" He closes his eyes as he snaps his fingers. Staff Guy flinches, covering his eyes from the bright light that formed in Sévir's fingers. "I have some tricks up my sleeve!" He follows this up with a punch to his face, then a powerful punch to his guts as he shouts: "Aprins Tura!" His fist glows red, Staff Guy is sent flying as flames come out of Sévir's hand. He hits the back of his head in a bar, getting knocked out in the process. "So, how was that for a fight Blue?" Sévir asked as he approached the unconscious Staff Guy. Oh, I'll give it a 5/10. Blue replied. "That's horrible. Oh hey, is Yellow awake?" He crouched as he raised Staff Guy's cloak. No, he's still sleeping. "Look at this, it's a Stepan Capital Academy uniform." He proceeded to take off Staff Guy's hood—as he sees who it is, he's left speechless. Oh. My. God. Is this who I think it is..? Blue blurted out. He stood up and dragged him to a corner where he can't be seen. Why are you bringing him here? Are you going to kill him? "No, I'm just putting him in a place where he can't be seen by the guards." He surrounds Staff Guy with boxes. "This guy shouldn't be here, he should be at the academy." He hears footsteps outside, loud ones with clanking metal. "That's my cue to leave." Sévir jumps high back to the window, grabbing onto the ledge as the door opens. "They're frozen.. Was the Little Gang Killer here?" Guard 1 asked. "That guy is stealing the spotlight! We should've been promoted ages ago if it weren't for him finishing the jobs almost every single time!" Guard 2 shouted in frustration. Sévir rolled his eyes as he leaped to the nearest roof. In an hour, he arrives back to the academy, the sun has set, everyone is eating out or in the canteen. "Sévir!" A girl shouted his name as she approached him. He looks back and sees Minerva and Zephyr. "Oh, hello." "We were about to get some dinner, would you like to join us?" She asked. "I'm too tired to eat." "Alright then, I'll see you tomorrow." "Yeah alright." He waves as he walks away. Chapter 10.5 Hey readers, Alvxrxn here!
