Kunny pulled up outside The Cambodiana at 9.10am. She’d taken Dave’s advice the night before and switched off mentally from anything to do with this case or anything work-related. A large pepperoni pizza, a couple of glasses of chardonnay and a vacuous film so bereft of plot or meaning that she had forgotten most of it already had ensured a relaxed night. Now she felt refreshed and ready for what would be their first full day on the job. Ten minutes later, Dave emerged from the entrance and gave her a wave as he moved towards the car.
“Good morning, Kunny, did you have a good night?”
“I so did. Just lay on the sofa with junk food and a movie on and was in bed at 10.30. How did your meeting at the embassy go?”
