Dave was woken from an idyllic dream of being on Brighton Beach with Caitlyn and Helen by the shrill sound of his ringtone. Reaching for his phone from the bedside cabinet, he saw it was Zed calling and immediately answered, knowing that a 7am call could only mean he had information. As Zed began to talk excitedly on the other end, Dave sat up straight as the full gravity of what Zed was telling him hit home. He told Zed to calm down and start from the beginning as he reached for his notepad and pen and began to take notes. By the time Zed had finished, half an hour had passed and Dave had filled six pages with notes and figures. Thanking Zed and telling him to go and get some deserved sleep, Dave crossed the room and put the kettle on for a much-needed coffee.
