It was a clear winter’s morning and the sun was out shining to beat the band. Suddenly, with one swoosh, the dark burgundy curtains were closed tight and Kane stood by them, not pleased and definitely not happy.
“You can’t go.”
“What do you mean, we can’t go? Just because you can’t be in the sunlight doesn’t mean we can’t.” With my head tipped back, eyes shut and hands fists now. I took a deep breath.
“Do you know what’s out there?” he said matter-of-factly.
“Yeah, life! I’m going out there, in the snow, and have a hell of a time! Don’t take that away from me.” I was now pleading. More like, I was standing my ground and putting my foot down as well.
“Candra, there are people who are trying to kill us and you’re going out there like bait.”
“Do you realize how stupid you sound?”
