"Ellie!" I turned around, startled. Allen immediately froze, like I wasn't in a conversation with him, prior to Alvin's entrance. "What are you doing here?" he asked. "I, uhm..." I stammered and struggled to articulate any words. "I couldn't sleep, and I couldn't get over the rose flowers down here," I said. Even I could hear how stupid I sounded, but if there was one thing I didn't thrive at, it was going to be telling lies. Even when my life depended on it, I just couldn't bring myself to tell a lie.
