Alpha Jones threw Ian out of the cottage, not letting them stay long enough to demand Jane.
Of course, he wasn't going to let any harm come to her, even though we all still hadn't questioned her about why she chose to go in the direction she did.
If she had noticed that this was Emily's plan, it would have been appropriate to contact somebody. There were definitely better ways around the entire situation that would have left us with Emily, until we got through with the ritual.
