Xavier I flinched the moment Sasha said those words. The sound of her sobs rattled me. Guilt rooted me in place. I didn’t even know she was there. If I had, I’d have shut my mouth. I wasn’t trying to hurt her. I was only venting and panicking. But now the tears ran down her face and pulled everything down with them. “Sasha, honey, I didn’t… I wasn’t trying to upset you… it’s just—” God, I sounded ridiculous.
