Liam

The next day I woke up to a phone call. I answered it without even checking the caller ID and said, “Hey Liam speaking how can I help you?” Aiden replied, “Hey sorry to bother you but we just got a call reporting a double robbery on Fifth Avenue.” I hopped out of bed and switched the phone to my other ear as I started putting some clothes on.

 I said, “Fill me in on the details.”

“Well it was two Tiffany’s stores not that far away from each other and it’s just like the others. No scents, no video evidence, and no proof of a robbery except things are missing.”

 “Okay. I want you to get all video from two weeks back and get it sent to the office. I also want you to check cameras in the surrounding area with the same time frame. I want you to take inventory from one and I want Luke to take the other.”

“What about the other cops?”

 “I want them to interview the staff and managers.”

“Alright.”

 “Wait I’m also going to send my beta and my head enforcer to each scene in wolf form to see if they can scent anything that maybe we are missing. Make sure that they are able to do what they need to do without any problems.”

“Okay. Anything else?”

 I started racking my brain to make sure that I am not forgetting anything, and I could not think of anything else that I was missing so I just said, “No I think that’s everything.” Then I hung up the phone. I finished getting dressed and put on my shoes and got in my Impala and went to work. When I got to my office and called Luke, Aiden, Rick, and Richard into my office.

I said, “Everybody knows why I called them in here so let’s cut to the chase let’s start with the Rockefeller Center.”

Luke said, “All jewelry and cash missing even the exclusive stuff they keep in the safe for safe keeping which I find kind of ironic if you think about it. There were thirty million totals in losses but there was absolutely nothing damaged. According to the manager who locked up everything was there the cameras and alarms were working perfectly when he locked up last night. We did a brief glance at the cameras from last night and everything looks normal.”

Rick said, “ I sniffed inside and out which is kind of difficult seeing how it’s a high traffic area but I did smell no scent spray so who ever did this is either a shifter or a human who knows about shifters but given the lack of evidence I’m leaning more toward shifter.”

 “Alright now tell me about Fifth Avenue.”

Aiden replied, “Same thing as the Rockefeller Center except it was only twenty-five million in loss and again no damages reported. When the manager locked up at around ten last night, he double checked the security cameras, alarms, and the locks before he went home, and he reported that everything was fine and working perfectly. I did interview one of the guards though and he said that he thinks that a succubus came into the store three days ago but he doesn’t remember much about it besides the fact that the day manager was acting kind of weird.”

 Richard said, “I got nothing but a few faint smells of humans and shifter but the strongest scent was the lemon smell in the no scent spray they used it was almost like it was made to blend in so that you couldn’t smell it on the person who used it. I did find slither marks like from a snake near the outside entrance of the vent though, so it wasn’t a total waste of my time I think.”

“Alright I want all hands on deck on this one because the mayor is about to be on my ass and considering this is the first case that we actually have some damn leads I need officers and pack working on this. I want Derek heading portals with the new recruits, Davis looking over the videos, I want Brittney to talk to the guard who thinks that he saw something, Aiden and Luke I want you guys to take the media circus and keep them occupied, Rick and Richard I want you guys to go back to the scenes and see if you see any other animal tracks, and I’m going to try to buy us sometime with the Mayor considering the Policeman’s Ball is tonight I would like to tell him that we are getting close to the culprit and enjoy my date with my mate.”

 Rick asked, “Why Brittney you know damn well your mate doesn’t like her and after that whole incident where she got her ass handed to her at the club I don’t think she is going to be all too willing to help?”

 “That is where beta commands come in handy and if she does not help, she is out of the pack because I will not tolerate disobedience from none of my pack members. You guys are dismissed.”

A few minutes later the call that I was dreading but knew would come came. my phone started to ring, and I said, “Hello this is Alpha Liam how can I help you?” A woman responded and said, “Hello this is Mayor Bernard Wade’s secretary if you could please hold for a minute, I will patch you through to him.”

After about a minute of me trying to figure out what I am going to say to him to try to minimize the situation he got on the phone and said, “Alpha Liam this is what the third major robbery this year with absolutely no leads coming from your department. I need to be able to assure the public that they have nothing to worry about but I cant do my job unless you do your job of catching the f*****g people who are robbing my people.”

I was getting pissed off by the way he was specking to me like I couldn’t tear his weak ass limb from limb without even shifting into my wolf and I replied, “With all due respect Mayor Bernard Wade, I did not vote for you and I may respect your position, but I also need you to respect mine. I am still an Alpha of one of the strongest wolf packs on this side of the world, so I need you to watch how you speak to me or there is going to be another election very soon. As for the cases I am working on we just got a few leads that we are checking up on and when I know something, I will let you know. Now if you do not mind, I need to get back to work to try and catch the people doing this. Just know that when we see each other tonight at the party do not talk to me how you just did and do not mention this case in front of me because if you do I will kill you.”

 “Are you threatening me?”

 “Take it however you want to take it but don’t say that I didn’t give you far warning.”

 I hung up the phone because I was done speaking to the arrogant prick, I was kind of pissed at myself for worrying about what I was going to say to that asshole. I did some more work from my desk and when it got near time to start getting ready for tonight, I went home. I got into the shower and shaved my entire body I do not know why but it felt like the right thing to do. The only hair I had left on my body was on my head and I kind of felt like the naked mole rat on Kim Possible. Shego was my childhood crush that was a bad b***h no pun intended. I put on my Dark Temptations Axe lotion, styled my hair, and then checked myself out in my full-length mirror before I go get my clothes on. I put on my Ralph Lauren suit, Michael Kors tie, the dress shirt I got from Macys, and some dress shoes. I took one last look at myself in the mirror realized that I do clean up quite nicely then I got into my car and drove to Cleo’s place hoping that she was wearing what I had got for her. When I got there, I saw that here place was huge way bigger than mine by like three football fields and I was a tad bit envious, but I sucked it up and knocked on the door.

A woman answered the door and I looked at her and said, “Hey I’m…”

She interrupted me before I could even finish and said, “I know who you are I’m Marcy and Cleo’s not ready yet, but you can come in and wait for her on the couch.” She moved out of the way and directed me to the living room. The inside looked amazing it was a perfect balance of both masculine and feminine touches and the couch felt like I was sitting on a cloud I could have probably fell asleep if it wasn’t for two things the fact that I was excited to see Cleo and the people staring at me from the other couch. They did not say anything just stared I guessed that they were just being protective of her, so I just tried to ignore it and continued waiting in silence for her to finish getting ready.
