"I'm so impressed, daughter," Mr. Wills said, his voice filled with disbelief. "I couldn't have thought of this amazing strategy. This is brilliant."
Rita's cheeks burned at her father's compliment.
"I always have a plan B, Daddy," Rita said with a dark chuckle. "I just acted dumb because I wanted to surprise you with it. I'm sorry for making you feel like I wasn't worth being your child."
Her father was supposed to apologize to her, not the other way around. But Rita didn't care. She just wanted her father to compliment and praise her.
She could abandon any emotion, even her soul, just to prove to her father that she was worthy of having his name.
