Rachel's eyelids fluttered open weakly, her throat dry and aching. The sterile scent of antiseptic filled the room and the steady beep of the heart monitor was the first thing she heard.
Her body felt heavy, every breath felt like a thorn on her flesh. She tried to lift her hands, but even that felt so painful.
