Josh Garel's POV:
Seeing Lydia throw hate at me like this was like a knife in my heart, and now that I know she knows nothing about her father, I can't blame her.
She should've listened to me, I am upset about that, but I knew she loved her father so much, she would never believe what I say.
I rushed to my office wanting to work so I can stop thinking about her.
I was still working on a plan, and the guards' distribution when I heard someone going down the stairs. It must be Jack.
Looking at the clock, I saw that it was 3:00 am. I was so caught up in the work that I didn't realize that I've been sitting here for 6 hours.
I stood up from my seat going to the door. I saw that it was Lydia at the stairs.
She realized that someone was there so she turned her head and looked at me.
"what woke you up at this time?" I said worried.
"Is this one of your rules? I can't wake up at night" she said mocking me.
"Lydia! I was just concerned."
"you?!" she laughed. "You! Are concerned about me? Puff" "I don't think so Josh. Don't worry I am not sneaking out the house, I am not that stupid."
"I wasn't thinking like that. Plus, I wouldn't worry about that, because there are a lot of guards outside you wouldn't be able to put a foot there without getting caught." I stated.
"Okay. Just don't try and act concerned, I know you aren't."
"I am not acting."
"You acted your whole life, why would you stop now?" she rolled her eyes at me.
"Why do you find the most thing that makes me angry and say it little girl? Do you like playing with my nerves? Because let me warn you, you're going to regret it."
"if the truth makes you angry, then yes. Because I only speak the truth." So confident of herself she rushed down on the stairs.
I followed her right away. She went to the kitchen and opened the fridge.
"Lydia, the true truth doesn't make me angry. And in fact, when you know it it'll break you. You know nothing about the truth!" I said my teeth gritting from anger, but I didn't want her to see it. "I cared Lydia. I left your father, I never left you. You're the one who left me and didn't ask for my point of view."
She continued searching through the fridge like she didn't hear a word I said.
"what do you want to eat?"
"It's none of your business" she snapped at me.
"well, I know where the stuff is, so I can help".
"I am just hungry; I don't know what to eat I am looking"
"okay, suit yourself" I smirked "I am going to do pancakes for me if you want."
"pancakes are good, but isn't it a bit too late for them"
"no, it's okay" I felt relieved that she agreed on eating with me. Maybe she isn't that angry after all, or she's so hungry. But who cares this made me happy inside. It's stupid actually, I should not care about her this much.
"Josh?" she snapped me out of my thoughts. I was preparing the pancake mix.
"yes"
"why?"
"why what? Lydia"
"why do you hate my father so much?"
"You know, when you told me that your father used to consider me as a son of his, I wasn't surprised, and I know that because I considered him as a father too, but turns out he's not the person who I thought he is."
"what happened between you two?"
"Just a conflict" I said remembering the ugly past. I really considered him as my father, and now he's like a dead father to me. The good version of him died in my head.
"just a conflict!! Then why did you leave? Was I this meaningless to you?"
"no Lydia you don't understand! It was a big conflict, plus you're the one that didn't want to see me anymore or did you forget"
"then make me understand"
"Lydia I am trying to, but you're shutting me off every time. You wouldn't believe. You're talking about Photoshop!! I saw it and heard it Lydia! You think I am that heartless to give up on my own family?" I said my voice breaking. I don't want to look weak in front of her. I know she's doing this on purpose, maybe. Maybe that's her revenge plan after the room incident.
Who knows? I don't trust her anymore.
"Tell me. I want to know"
"okay, okay. You need to sit down for this."
"okay" she found the nearest chair and sat on it.
"The whole reason of our conflict me and your father is that your father once came to me and asked me to support him to work with the Donettis."
"So what? The Donettis are in business too you know. I know we can't trust them; I mean look what we're into. But I don't see that's a reason for such a big fight" She said sounding relieved.
"It was a good reason, and still is. Your father didn't want to do regular work with them. He wanted to change his whole mafia alliances. He went from the good side to the bad side. He actually asked me to agree on him signing dr** deals. Your father went nasty Lydia! He actually became one of them, those dirty mafia men. That's why I left. I didn't want to get into all of this, he let me down so hard. I thought he was a good person."
"what are you saying?" She dared me to repeat "My father would never do that"
"oh, he did. And he did it bad"
"You're sick, aren't you?!" she shouted.
"No, I am not sick. I told you, you would not believe me. I knew it, I shouldn't have said anything."
"Yeah, you shouldn't because I asked for the truth. You gave me lies; would you think I'll fall into that? You think I am that stupid" she broke.
"Oh, you're stupid if you don't believe me but here we are."
"You're such a lying bast**d, I can't believe I actually considered asking you!! YOU HATE MY FATHER AND I DON'T KNOW WHY. I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU'RE WORKING WITH!! BUT BELIEVE ME I'LL FIND OUT. AND I WILL COME SPIT IN YOUR FACE JOSH GAREL!!!" She shouted her lungs out tears running on her face.
She walks out furiously out the door, went to the entrance and opened the door running out.
The guards rushed into her and grabbed her. She struggled hitting them, she's actually so strong physically. But now emotionally anybody can see she's teared into pieces. I knew the truth would tear her apart. I am the one responsible of this but it's time she knows.
"you're not going anywhere Lydia. Your father putted you under my protection. And I am not letting you go until he says so>"
"so now you listen to him" she said giving up. Her face red, tears everywhere.
The guards carried her to her room. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. 'what to do now?'
