Chapter 3 Lena When I finally got home, the only thing I wanted was silence. I told the Omegas not to disturb me since I wanted to be alone in my room. They all gave me pitying glances, it made me feel weak and stupid but it was worth it since they would stay away from me for a while. “Whatever you want. Luna.” The head of the omegas says, smiling, even though her smile pretty much feels fake. With a smug smile, I nodded and walked away. With trembling legs, I unlock the door of my room and stumble in weakly. Blood lines my arms and my legs. I feel a throbbing headache as I stagger to the bathroom, peeling off my clothes to clean my wounds. The antiseptic stings, but honestly, it’s nothing compared to the emptiness I am feeling inside; my heart hurts more than the antiseptic sting. Everything inside of me feels blank. My heart wouldn't stop drifting to the way he looked at her, cared for her and spoke gently, something he has never shown me. My wolf is silent. She is too weak to heal me quickly, too tired to rise. ‘Hang in there.’ I tell her silently, sending a quick prayer to the moon goddess. I step into the shower, the warm water making me wince a bit. Honestly, the tears threatened to fall, but I aggressively wiped my face. I don’t want to be weak anymore. That was the old times, I wanted to be stronger and show Alec that I didn't need him to survive. Two months. There were only two months to go. I collapse on the bed, my whole body trembling. I closed my eyes and let sleep pull me away, but it didn’t last long when I heard something jolt downstairs. I rose slowly, my body aching and stiff. I don’t bother to change, I just throw on a nearby alumni sweatshirt from the academy. “What’s going on?” I ask, standing up from the bed. I hurriedly put on sweatpants and go downstairs where I see Alec and Scarlet sitting down. Scarlett is laughing in my house like she owns the place, Alec’s arms are draped over the couch. Her eyes landed on me and it lit up, she tilted her head, looking at me with fake concern. Instant hatred enveloped me the moment I sighted them. What could they possibly want from me? “Oh dear,” she coos, pressing a hand to her chest. “Do you feel better now?” I stare at her, I can’t even fake a smile. My stomach turns. She wasn't even good at pretending, it was obvious she didn't care and she hated me so why the pretentious character? “You could learn some kindness from her.” His eyes met mine as he said it. I don’t bother responding. He doesn’t wait for a response, but his voice sounds cold and authoritative. “Cook something for us,” he orders, his voice stiff and cold, holding little to no emotion at all. “No.” I say flatly, meeting his eyes. For the first time, I was expressionless, trying to hold all the seriousness I could get. His head snaps towards me as if he didn’t hear me right, shock written all over his face. I loved the sudden look on his face. “What did you just say right now?” He asks, eyes blaring in fury. I pursed my lips into a thin line, a little smirk creeping up my lips, “I said no. Order takeout.” His expression was priceless. For a while there, I think he was speechless, unable to say anything due to shock and the atmosphere was tense. Before I could walk away, Scarlet gasped in delight and clasped her hands, “Let me help! I can make something that all of us would enjoy, just give me some time.” And without waiting for permission, she scurried into my kitchen with that smile that irritated me a lot while humming as if she was glad doing it. And there were only me and Alec in the living room, staring at each other. minute later, Later, the sound of disaster coming from the kitchen enveloped the air. Pots were clattering, and plates shattered. I stood in the doorway, watching as confusion settled on her lips and expression while scurrying the kitchen in absolute chaos. A loud and dramatic gasp enveloped the room, “Ouch! I just cut myself.” I rolled my eyes in boredom, of course she would cut herself, she was obviously a novice in the kitchen. I didn't move an inch. Alec stormed in a few seconds later, his eyes darted from his injured love who just cut her finger to the kitchen disaster and then his eyes finally settled on me. His expression held the accusation as if I had a hand in all of this. His accusing gaze was enough for me to hate him, I couldn't even stand his presence anymore, “Get out now,” I shut my eyes for a brief second, breathed in and out deeply, then darted it open almost immediately, “Both of you.” The air shifted and the moment went back to being tense. But none of them moved an inch, they just stood there, ignoring me. I couldn't stand their presence around me anymore, I was already getting irritated and I wanted them out of here as soon as possible. “Get the hell out of my kitchen, now, both of you.” I repeated, but this time louder than before. Alec’s eyes flashed with fury, but I didn't flinch. His aura slammed into me, pushing me hard and I could see the brief amusement in Scarlet’s eyes. My knees wobbled and I fell hard to the floor. The broken pieces of the ceramic pierced deep into my skin. I winced gently, my eyes never leaving my skin. My wolf whimpered inside but I didn't want to show vulnerability, especially in front of them so I didn't make a sound. His eyes scanned me briefly, and then he saw it, the blood soaking my pants. The fresh closed wounds from earlier were reopened. His expression flickered, but just for a quick second and I caught it.
