Side story:The Blade Buried In Time

336 Words
A year after the curse. Kael stood in the palace armory, running his hand over a sword he didn’t remember forging. It was too light for war, too elegant for ceremony. A carving along the hilt read in an unfamiliar script: “To find you again, I would tear time apart.” He asked his scribe if it was his. The scribe looked confused. “You named it Moonlight. You never said why.” Kael shrugged. He didn’t know why either. But he couldn’t bring himself to let it go. --- Days turned into weeks. That blade became his companion in training. It felt right in his hand — more than any other weapon in the royal collection. When he held it, he felt… peace. And sometimes, just before sleep, he dreamed of a girl in a meadow of glowing flowers. He never saw her face. But she was always smiling. --- A battle came. A rebellion in the northern provinces. Kael fought at the front, wielding Moonlight with impossible grace — his instincts faster than thought, his movements guided by something beyond skill. They said he fought like a man defending more than a crown. That night, as he sat by the fire, the hilt of his blade shimmered faintly under the moon. He traced the inscription again. “To find you again, I would tear time apart.” He didn’t know who the words were for. But his heart ached as if it did. --- Months later… When Liora returned to the palace disguised as a healer, she passed Kael in a corridor. He didn’t recognize her. But he paused. And whispered, “Have we met?” Liora simply smiled. And when Kael walked away, he held Moonlight a little tighter — not knowing why his chest felt like it had been cracked open by a memory he couldn’t name. --- Ending Line: > Some love stories are not forgotten. They are simply waiting for the soul to remember where it left them. ---
