CHAPTER 6 – A TALK WITH THE EX

1008 Words
I almost did a happy dance when I finally finished the workload that piled over when I was gone for my get away vacation. However, I moved on to my sketching pad since Josh is not in the city at the moment, he’s in a business trip. I paused when I realized that this was always the case before I met Josh. When I finish pending works, I either go ahead and brainstorm for new designs or go on a date with Roy but only when he’s the one who invites me out, I somehow got tired of acting like a little girlfriend along the road thus the cheating part might be partly my fault but I would have undoubtedly let him go if only he talked instead of acting. On the other hand, I actually never felt that excited with seeing Roy than how excited I am at the moment at the thought of seeing Josh. Maybe it’s because he’s my mate or because I am genuinely interested in him or I’m probably desperately in love with him already. One thing about the mate thing is that you’re supposed to be in love with them at first glance and meeting but I know better than to easily let my feelings be led like that. I want a genuine relationship with Josh and even if it’s fuelled with the fact that he is my mate, I still want to feel the genuine feeling between the two of us. “Mr. Williams is here.” Grace announced as she locked the door behind her. I smiled. “I thought you were already gone.” I said as I put aside my sketch pad. “Yes until saw Mr. Williams in the lobby. I am going to have a word with security later for letting him in!” Grace massaged the bridge of her nose, a sign that her temper has flared up. I love Grace but even I take caution as to not push her too far to this point. “Forget it, I will escort him out myself.” “No, it’s okay. Let him in or else this will never end.” I said with a sigh and Grace studied me before silently complying.                 A moment later Grace led Roy inside. Grace had also removed her coat, a sign that she’s not going anywhere with Roy around. She looked at me for the last time before glaring at Roy and going out the room. Roy still looks like plain, old Roy despite the fact that he’s acting like a victim publicly. “Zoya…what did you do?” Was the first words that came out of his mouth. “I did not do anything. I actually went on a vacation and when I came back, the news of your cheating incident greeted me and you actually have the nerve to blame me.” I scowled to add to the act. One thing for sure is that I will never confess of my involvement since I owe it to that girl to protect her. “Went to a vacation right after that article was released?” Roy took a step forward but I did not budge. “Do you remember that time when I asked if you wanted to go somewhere with me? Remember you said that you’re busy? Remember Roy? I thought it was a waste so I just went by myself and to think that it turns out that you were busy with another girl.” I attacked. I did ask him to go somewhere with me before but I was actually hoping for him to accompany me on a certain business party to show off. It actually came in handy that I did not tell him specific details.                 I finally saw the doubt cross on his face as he studied my face to see if I was lying. He had deluded himself during the past year that he already knew how to read me but he was far from the truth, he never really knew me. “Those articles are not true.” Roy finally said after a few minutes of silence. “You have to trust me. Think of how long we are together, I will never cheat on you.” “I did trust you Roy but then you took their side and blamed me as well. Whether you cheated on me or not, it’s clearly over between the two of us.” To top it off, I squeezed out a tear. “Zoya please…I didn’t mean any of those.” He started pleading and I turned away. “Just leave me alone already.” I said with a secret smile. The door opened as if on cue and I was expecting Grace but I got surprised when I turned around. “Did I come at a bad moment?” Josh asked when he looked around. Grace was behind him, smiling mischievously at me. Of course she knows my relationship with Josh, he came here a few times before his business trip. “No, this man was just leaving.” I said as I managed to contain the joy in my voice. “Zoya…” Roy started. “Just leave!” I raised my voice and seeing that he recognized Josh, he looked at me for the last time before dejectedly leaving the room after giving Josh a half-hearted greeting.                 I sighed when the door closed but not after Grace winked at me. I was immediately in Josh’s embrace and the world was suddenly bright and alright. “You’re back! I thought you said that you will be back tomorrow?” I asked after I relished in his scent. “I missed you so I rushed things.” He answered and I felt giddy inside. This is love. “I didn’t think you were meeting other men behind my back.” “Oh come on.”                 He laughed and bent down to capture my lips. Kissing has never been that simple between the two of us. There is that spark that goes around my whole body that makes me feel alive. I know it’s the classic girl in love but that is literally the truth. I want this to last forever and it will because he is my mate.
