CHAPTER 5 – GOING BACK

1022 Words
1 week passed by with fun and pleasure day and night. Although Josh had to work form here halfway, he never really minded extending his vacation since he gets to t*****e me at night, not that I’m happy with that. It just bothers me a bit that I never get a chance to know a little bit more about his life, it was always about me since we met. However, I did find out accidentally that he is more or less a 150 years old vampire. More or less because he never really kept tracked of everything that he has been doing up until the present era where he finally decided to settle down. On our last night in the cottage, I let him have his time with his business meeting while I packed and hauled everything to my car before heading to the main building to get a massage at the spa. After all that activity for the whole week, I need to have my body relax before going back to my hectic life and of course, it’s going to be more hectic now that I found my mate. “This is the life indeed.” I said out loud and sighed as I looked up towards the starry sky while enjoying the natural hot spring that the mountain offers.                 Since it’s a bit late in the night, I was the last person here and the mountain resort operates 24/7 so it’s really convenient. My only regret is the fact that I never discovered this place until now and I have Roy and those random hikers at the diner to thank for. Everything is just a series of event but I wonder if that’s the truth since I’ve met Josh in the end. Aunt Moona or Grandma Moona, a friend of our maternal grandmother, had once said that there are things in the universe that our predestined. It means that an event will always happen in the end and nothing could change it from happening. Well, maybe this is one of them but on the other side, there is also the fact that it might really just be a coincidence that I’ve met Josh, my mother is actually all in on the side of making things happen with our own hands. Anyways, I cannot really ask Aunt Moona for answers since she’s gone, not gone as in dead but gone as in she’s actually the Goddess of the moon and her disappearance in this world has something to do with her celestial duties or so as what my witch Aunt and mother had explained when we were young. “A penny for your thoughts?” josh suddenly said and I tilted my head to see him in his shorts behind me. I could have noticed him coming but I guess it’s one of those moments when I just stand back and let my defences down. “Your work done?” I asked as he joined me in the pool. Like a natural thing to do, his whole body engulfed mine in a natural hug and even though the water is really hot, his body’s temperature stayed the same, cold. “Someone like me who’s standing on the top never really have a work that can be called done. It’s just my talent that I can work anywhere.” I can feel his crooked smile on his shoulder. “It’s probably because you are too responsible for your own good but I also can understand since I have people working under me. Even if I want to just sit back and relax on most days, I am responsible for their livelihood somehow.” “The only thing we could do is complain though.” Josh said and we both sighed. “Well, compared to my measly company, you have thousands under you so good luck.” I said and kissed his chin.                 After breakfast the next day, we both went back to our regular working lives. “Mr. Williams called a hundred times during the week that you were gone, I think I already became a robot with answering with the same answer all the time.” Grace complained as I stepped inside the office. I sighed. “Good morning to you too Grace. Thank you for all the hard work this time.” I said as she followed me to my chair with a pout. “Anyways, they’re requesting for you to hold a press conference about the matter. The model that he was sleeping with was fired on all sorts of job and her fans had come out to defend her.” “So they’re demanding a press conference?” “Yes, her company and also Mr. William’s company. It seems like they managed to twist everything and made you the culprit. Although they’re not that far from the truth that it was your own doing, this is still low for Mr. Williams since he’s the one sleeping around.” Grace sighed. “So what will we do?” “For now, just ignore them. A juicy gossip like this is the media’s battlefield. Roy’s position in his company is not that small and he is also famous. That model is also a top one so let’s just let the media solve this for us. The paparazzi will never let this matter rest and the truth will always come to light.” I said as I checked my email, I cringed internally at what I saw. “I figured that much but I just can’t help but feel the injustice of all of this. It’s ridiculous. On the other hand, it did not affect any of our contracts so it’s fine.” Grace smiled and I hated that smile because… “It seems like we have more and more offers.”                 Whether I like it or not, my little vacation had given me a mountain of work as a present. I expected a lot of work but not to the point where it will trap me in the office for at least 3 days. It means that I have to say goodbye to Josh’s beautiful face for the next 3 days as well. What a sad turn of events after those days of seeing him every day, I sighed and went ahead with my first folder.
