Caleb had been busy with meeting after meeting. He spoke to the Old Man at length and he wasn’t happy with the decisions made. He didn’t like the idea of just sitting back. The Old Man disagreed and overruled him claiming that Caleb needed to have more faith in Arabella. He scoffed. He had plenty of faith in her, but the thought of someone hurting her twisted his insides and caused his anger to flare. A pissed off vampire is not a good thing for whoever is on the receiving end.
Caleb climbed off his couch and grabbed his coat. He needed to blow some energy and a car drive would help clear his head. He opened his garage and jumped into his favorite blue Porsche Turbo, put the top down and cranked the radio. Finding nothing worth listening to, he turned off the radio and headed towards the back roads. There was a decent hiking path next to the state park that he liked to go to. It was off the beaten path and only serious hikers went there.
Fifteen minutes later, Caleb pulled in front of Arabella's. He wasn't sure how or why he ended up there. He started in the direction of the park and somehow got turned around. It was like he was running on autopilot. He turned the car off and sat staring at her house. It had changed very little the last ten years that she had lived there.
It was a one story tan house with green trim, set a good distance back from the road. There were flower boxes in the front windows, the green vines curling and almost hitting the ground. The walkway was cobblestone and led to a driveway that was usually empty, since she kept her car elsewhere. He was about to pull away when he saw Arabella's silver car come down the road. He knew she had a meeting with the security company, but he hadn't expected her to be back so soon. He turned the car off and waited.

Arabella didn't say one word to Jake the whole ride home. She was furious about him grabbing her. She considered telling him to f**k off for a while, but she worried about him being alone and doing something stupid. He was in enough trouble and there were too many questions without answers. She looked at her wrist and saw the beginnings of a bruise. So much for her gooey chocolate theory. She sighed and just drove faster.
Of all the things she had expected of Jake, what just happened was not on the list. Not to mention probably one of his biggest secrets was just blown away with the blue eyes. f*****g royalty. Warlock royalty. It certainly explained why he was one of the longest to ever keep the position he was in. Most were killed off because they learned too much or just couldn't play the game well enough. She sighed for what was probably the hundredth time and wished she could keep her gooey chocolate theory. Instead, she had to deal with a warlock from one of the Royal lines. f**k.
After pulling into the driveway of her house, she turned to Jake. He was staring out the window, his eyes back to their normal brown color. When he still didn't turn to face her, she got out of the car and slammed the door. To hell with him. She needed some ice cream, then she could deal with the i***t in the car.
Arabella slammed the front door closed and threw her coat on the floor. Without stopping, she headed to the freezer and pulled out a carton of purple raspberry ice cream. She grabbed a soda from the fridge, a spoon from the drawer and brought everything to the couch. Kicking her feet up, she turned on the tv and flipped until she found a new vampire horror movie. Nothing like a little violence and ice cream to make a girl feel better.
