Sota rushed me to the nearest hospital. I held Carina in my arms the whole time, not wanting her to leave my side even for a second. I let my eyes rake over her body, realizing just how much Miguel tortured her. Her chest rose and fell slowly—barely any movement. She was shot in the leg and the wound was definitely infected because she didn’t get any medical attention. The lash marks over her body were swollen—red and bloody.
