Even though they must have taken notice of the missing elders, they all glanced around just to be certain. It had come like a shocker to them that would have been the case.
"But my Alpha, Lucian, is your father-in-law." Kian said to me softly.
He was trying to put a good word for his friend in a way that would not pass off as disrespectful.
"He's not. He's the father of the woman I took as heir bearer when my mate was gone." I said and looked at her.
I have no idea what I had been expecting but she did not even acknowledge me with a smile or even a nod. She simply turned her face away and I knew I deserved everything she was throwing at me.
