Rachel
Only God alone would be able to save her from Chase's claws.
"She wanted to cause misunderstanding between us. She wanted to do what was beyond her reach." Chase said.
His words sent shivers through my body but it was not in a spine-chilling way.
I shrugged the feeling away.
Still, an angry Chase was enthralling.
I folded my hands and moved closer to the wall.
I rested some of my weight on the wall.
Immediately I moved, Chase's eyes followed me like an hawk.
His attention and fear made a sprout of happiness grow.
I straightened my lips.
I was enjoying this way too much.
I don't know where the person that was wallowing in sadness and pain just moments ago went.
The moment I figured everything out, I felt refreshed.
I even had the time to observe Chase carefully.
"I know." I said.
I didn't say another word.
"I know you are angry and I under—" Chase started before he trailed off.
He stared at me in shock.
Chase normally hides his emotions and thoughts behind his dark pupils.
This moment was different. I could see his shock clearly.
It seemed my silence scared him more than any yelling would do.
He just didn't know.
I was in too much shock to yell.
Besides, I wanted to sulk alone and I didn't have the strength to scream.
Before Chase came into this hall, I just wanted lick my wounds in one corner before facing the world again.
"I said I know." I repeated.
Chase nodded in a trance.
When he put himself together, he scooped me into his arms.
I didn't struggle this time.
I knew that both Chase and I needed this hug.
My eyes flashed.
I wanted to ask Chase to let me gift Julie a few punches but I curbed the urge.
Chase was enough to deal with her and I knew that he would show her hell on earth.
There was no need to interfere.
Knowing this fact didn't stop my fury though, she almost succeeded in turning Chase and I against each other.
My bottom line is cheating.
Thankfully, Chase didn't cheat.
My heart still wasn't settled.
Patricia was still out there.
I don't knows if she came to this resort too.
Truly, enemies meet on a narrow road.
"You don't think I cheated?" Chase asked with his dark eyes leveled on me.
I saw my reflection in his black irises.
It was like I only existed in his world.
I nodded, "First of all, you are not that stupid. You knew I was coming so even if you wanted to cheat, it would not be that obvious. Secondly, I trust you. You are the kind of person to give me space when you weren't sure of my feelings for you. You don't seem like the cheating kind."
A smile blossomed on Chase's lips.
The hall seemed to brighten all of a sudden.
His arms around me tightened.
It wasn't as tight as the first time he hugged me in this hall.
Now, his hold was just right.
He made sure I wasn't uncomfortable in his arms while ensuring I did not escape.
This situation was a close call.
Thankfully, I wasn't the kind of person that would flare up. I didn't do something I would regret later in my anger.
"I thought you said you would take care of Julie. Why was she able to come here?" I asked in worry, "I saw Julie at the Steel Cell Group's headquarters. She was roaming the parking lot like an homeless person. She must have been trying to find out more information about our trip."
Chase's eyes flashed with a dark light.
"I was busy with work. The rest of my time was set aside for you so I asked one of my subordinates to deal with Julie in my place." Chase explained.
I looked up and I caught the rage in Chase's eyes.
It seemed like this subordinate wasn't exempt from Chase wrath either.
He and Julie would be doomed.
"He clearly did a terrible job." I joked but Chase's face remained impassive.
He didn't find it funny.
"Chase, can I meet your family soon? I am ready to visit them." I said after using my tongue to moisten my dry lips.
This matter turned my crisis button on.
I wanted to get married to Chase.
At least, some of the women chasing my man would keep their intentions hidden then.
Besides, I wasn't satisfied with being just his girlfriend.
I wanted to live in the same house.
I wanted to go to bed with him and wake up with him next to me.
I wanted to be everywhere Chase was and any place Chase would be.
"Don't worry, you would meet them soon. After this trip, prepare yourself." Chase said and I smiled.
Chase rested his head on the crook of my right shoulder.
"Rachel, thank you." Chase whispered.
His voice sent vibrations throughout my body from the point of contact his jaw made.
I laughed because of the brief ticklish feeling his voice caused.
"You are the one I should thank. You are didn't betray me, believing you was the right thing." I said softly.
A misunderstanding that had the potential to evolve into something worse was dissolved like that.
I wrapped my hands around him too
He wasn't the only one that needed validation that the other person was still present.
The heat his body emanated and his breathing assured me that this person was Chase, the man who was my soulmate.
"Rachel, are you still up for soaking in the hot spring?" Chase asked after we basked in the mood brought by our heart to heart connection.
Julie had almost spoiled our plans.
"Yes, I would love to." I replied.
Chase led me back to the hall he reserved.
Immediately I entered the hall, I saw Julie sprawled on the floor with a big lump on her head.
The lump on her head was red and she was unconscious.
Chase passed her by.
It was like she was a particle of non-existent dust.
I didn't behave like I saw her.
Chase brought me to the other connected hall that housed the hot spring.
There was bathrobes provided.
I quickly removed my clothes and then, I sank into the hot spring.
The speed I used to remove my clothes and dunk in the water could rival a lightning.
A chuckle sounded.
"It is not like I haven't seen it all. What are you hiding?" Chase asked as he came to join me in the water.
I coughed.
I blame the steam coming from the water for the red blush taking over my face.
I did not know why I was shy.
What he said was the truth.
It wasn't as if he hadn't seen it all before.
It was all my fault.
I wanted to enjoy the hot spring thoroughly so I went as bare as the day I was born.
I did not leave anything on.
I exhaled a relief breath as I leaned on Chase.
He swam to me when he entered the spring fully.
I began to hum as the water relaxed my body and my spirit.
Soon, a knock sounded.
The person that knocked didn't wait for us to give any indication for them to come in before opening the door.
I sank into the water so that only my collarbones and above was visible. The rest of my body was in the water.
Our faces changed.
That person had entered into the first hall without informing us.
It was a great breach of privacy.
I regretted not locking the door as we entered.
The person obviously saw Julie sprawled on the floor like a dead person.
It was strange that the person did not raise any alarm.
There wasn't even any exclamations to show shock.
It was like seeing an unconscious woman laying on the floor with a big lump on her head was normal.
That itself wasn't something a normal person would do.
Even if this resort had vows of secrecy to follow, it was weird that the person just passed by like a ghost without doing anything.
The person that entered was a woman.
She was wearing a cap that blocked the upper part of her face.
The lower part of her face was extremely familiar though.
For a moment, I could not place where I saw that face.
The trolley she was pushing had a white and red candle that gave off an aromatic scent.
The scent spread across the hall quickly.
Another cover tray occupied most of the space on the trolley.
The trolley only had the candles and the tray. There wasn't any other thing in it.
"The resort wanted to present a special gift to their customers. Please accept it." The woman said.
Her voice was strange.
It was like she was intentionally increasing the pitch and tone of her voice so that her real voice would not be recognized.
Another red flag.
I inhaled the aromatic scent coming from the candle with the air I took in.
I did not notice anything at first.
My expression changed.
Heat shot to my core and I could feel my tongue lose moisture.
My body trembled in anticipation for something.
I was very familiar with this feeling.
I had this exact same feeling when I drank the spiked drink Patricia and her cohorts gave me.
My eyes shot to the strange woman that wore the attire of these resort's workers.
"Patricia?!" I called with fiery.
I had expected the possibility of Patricia coming to this hot spring resort.
I did not know that she had the guts to come.
"Oh, you remember me so well." Patricia said as she raised her head up.
She had always been lowering her head.
Chase laughed.
His laughter was dark.
"It looks like there are many rabid dogs running rampant lately." He commented.
Chase didn't mind his half-bare state. He rose out of the water and headed to wards Patricia.
Patricia grinned.
"I thought that i***t laying at the other hall would be enough to take you down. I overestimated her. She was useless, I had to act myself." Patricia said in a singsong voice, "Thank God I had two plans in place. I can not let one i***t ruin my plans for you two."
"You don't learn. You tried this stunt before and it ended badly. I don't know how stupid you are to be able to attempt it again." I said through gritted teeth.
Chase stilled in his advance.
Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
"This isn't like the drug we spiked your drink with. This one is stronger and better. It would affect both of you. That's a plus." Patricia informed with an ugly grin in her face.
I wanted to tear off her face with my nails.
I could feel my body weakening.
Chase glared at her.
"You don't learn." He repeated my words.
I did not know that Julie and Patricia teamed up to get revenge on us.
I don't even know how they met.
"It seemed like I won't be able to get any incriminating videos of you. Julie wasn't able to either. It would have made the headlines." Patricia said regretfully.
She ignored Chase's words.
Chase walked up to her and grabbed her neck.
Patricia's smile dropped but her defiance remained in her eyes.
Her hands circled Chase's hands in a bid to get him to release her neck.
"You thought I had no capabilities to fight back? Hope I proved you wrong. No matter what you do to me today, I have already released the news about the relationship between you and her." Patricia said before letting her hands fall beside her.
She stopped struggling.
"Boss, I am here with the clothes." A male voice said.
The person was obviously standing in front of the first hall.
"Come in." Chase replied and the man came in.
A bulky man in black suit walked in.
Chase threw Patricia down like a ragdoll.
"Drop the clothes and take her away. Take the one at the other hall too, I will come and deal with them myself." Chase instructed.
This must be Mark.
"Yes sir." Mark said before grabbing Patricia.
He didn't care if she was uncomfortable.
"Take this trolley away too." Chase said and Mark dragged the trolley away as he left.
He closed the connecting door between the halls considerably.
Chase stalked to me like a beast on a prowl.
I knew where this was going and I anticipated it.
I don't know if I should be thankful to Patricia.
Chase grabbed a robe and scooped me out of the spring.
He wrapped the robe around me and walked out.
"Let's go home."
His voice was like a siren's beacon, alluring and enchanting.
