Rachel
"What?!" My mother said sharply as she rose to her feet again. Her hands was cleamched into fists. She looked ready to engage in a fistfight anytime.
She did not look like she wanted to take her advice of using words instead of violence.
"Sit down, mom." I said and I patted the space beside me.
"Why were you drugged? Why did you not come home?" My mother kept firing questions as she took her seat.
I smiled.
I loved the care that her words and actions showed.
She glared at me, "Why are you smiling? Is my words funny?"
I shook my head quickly. I would face her wrath otherwise.
The wrath of a mama bear is no joke.
"Nothing is funny. I was just thinking of something else." I said in a bid to appease her.
"Enough of that. Continue your story." She said as she faced me totally with her eyebrows furrowed in concern.
"My coworkers invited me out to a workers' hangout. I did not know it was a trap. They spiked the drink they gave me." I explained.
My mother's hand appeared in my vision out of nowhere. She held my right ear in her grasp.
She twisted it mildly.
Her action didn't cause any pain but I gasped in mock agony.
"What did I tell you about being cautious? You don't know them before. Why would you receive something you would take through your mouth from them?" My mother scolded with anger marring her features.
I could see the worry and concern laying underneath everything though.
This world can be very dangerous at times. My mother had drummed that fact into our brains as often as she can.
It was why she supported my decision to take self defense classes even as she frowned on my boyish attitude.
She takes our safety very serious.
"Don't worry." I consoled her, "Chase was there to save me before any permanent harm occurred."
She heaved a sigh of relief before she eyed my outfit with pursed lips.
"I guess this outfit is for Chase." She said.
She didn't ask a question, she just stated a fact that she believed.
I nodded.
All the worry disappeared from her face and she leaned closer.
She had that annoying expression on her face again.
The one that made her look like an old man trying to seduce a naive little girl away.
I knew she was about to drop a bomb from her mannerisms.
"Since you are wearing his clothes, can I safely assume that your plan to seduce him worked?" My mother asked with a suggestive wiggle of her brow.
I blushed, "Mom! So Chase can't give me his clothes? Is that what you are trying to say?"
She raised both of her hands in mock surrender.
"Don't get too aggressive. You said you were drugged and now you are wearing Chase's attires. I have the right to ask." My mother joked but her expression turned solemn a minute later.
"What happened?" I asked in worry.
Her words had me blushing before the redness coating my skin faded when I saw her solemn face.
"I hope Chase didn't force you to do anything you didn't consent to?" She asked and my banging heart settled.
I shook my head like I was rattle drum.
"He didn't force anything on me. I am the one you should look at with suspicious eyes. I was the one that force him." I admitted with the red blush back on my cheeks.
I thought I was a tough girl. I don't know why I was turning red at the slightest provocation now.
My mother gasped exaggeratedly, "You did what?! I never thought that you had a gangster in you."
I stood up.
I had been through a rollercoaster yesterday and I wanted to use this day as a resting period.
I deserved some rest.
"So, how did your first night feel?" My mother asked with a suggestive expression on her face.
I didn't reply. I fled to my room like I had hounds on my heels.
I had already freshened up so I crashed onto my bed.
It did not take long for sleep to carry me away on a galloping unicorn.

The next day, I was in a sour mood.
I was moping around.
My mother noticed but I didn't tell her anything.
I would never believe it if anybody told me that Chase didn't have any spare time to call me.
He didn't do anything after he dropped me off at my house.
No calls. No text messages. Nothing was forthcoming.
This cold silence between us caused me to overthink. It caused pain also.
I could not understand.
I wasn't getting anywhere with my seduction so I thought a huge change in our dynamic would get me the results I wanted.
Giving myself to Chase was a change that was big enough.
I don't know why he was suddenly quiet now.
The loving eyes and care seemed like a distant dream now.
I did not even know that I would be intensely attached to him after spending a night with him.
All my emotions was just over the place.
I did not know what to think or do.
I tried to call him but all I was greeted with was the busy dial of his phone.
It was another arrow that shot straight to the heart.
Normally, Chase would answer my call on the second ring. It might even be on the first ring sometimes.
This scenerio of me being unable to reach him was unheard off.
It was almost like he was avoiding me. It was like he was cutting me up.
I would never believe that Chase was the kind that sleeps with a girl and just walk away.
It was my first night for crying out loud.
I know he is aware that the night I spent together with him was my first. The tiny spots of blood on the bed made that fact clear.
I called his phone again and a busy tone rang. I ended the call before throwing my phone on the bed.
I chided myself for caring too much.
Still, I had already fallen too far into this hole called love.
I can not stop myself from caring.
My phone's ringtone blared and I rushed to it.
I answered the call in my haste. I didn't even bother to check the name on the screen.
I thought it was Chase.
I was wrong.
"Hello Rachel, I have a favor to ask of you. I am also calling to apologize." Patricia's hated voice rang from my phone's speakers.
Hearing her voice, I saw red.
