Chapter 10

Rachel The moment my lips touched his, I felt an electric feeling rush through me. The slight heat from his breath flowed into my mouth. Chase's right hand held me while his other hand held my head steady. Soon, the initiative wasn't in my hands anymore. The ball was in Chase's court now. His tongue shot through my parted lips to explore the depths of my mouth. My arms that were around his neck tightened and a tiny noise slipped from my throat. Chase stopped abruptly. He carried me in a princess hold and he walked out of the bathroom. He did not forget to kick Ted on his way out. The humid air from the hall sobered me up a little but I was still inebriated. "Why did you stop?" I asked Chase. During the kiss, I felt like he might be interested in me. I don't want him to think I was playing around. I don't want him to think my action was just a drunken mistake. I used my drunk state as a excuse to act on my thoughts though. "You are drunk." Chase did not look at me. He just kept his gaze forward. I felt like he was avoiding a forbidden fruit. "I know what I am doing. You make me feel something and I acted on that feeling." I argued but Chase didn't reply. The hall was large but Chase had long legs and the distance was covered before I could continue firing him questions. He soon reached the place we all sat down at. Silence reigned for a moment. "What happened to her?" Ryan's voice asked hurriedly. I did not focus on him. I tucked my face into Chase's chest. I was trying to explain my feeling to Chase but he wasn't listening. I wanted to inhale his smell as much as I could before we seperate. The moments I can do similar things are rare. I had to use my opportunity wisely. "She's fine but she was almost attacked in the bathroom by Ted." Chase said. His voice was dark and threatening. I raised my head a little to stare at him from my position. It was times like this that I believed Chase cared about me. I was not just sure if it is the type of care I want. I don't want any semblance of a sibling relationship. "Ted?!" Ryan rose to his feet, "Where is he?" "In the bathroom. It seemed like you have lost your touch Ryan." Chase commented before he headed towards the door. Ryan did not say anything. He left the gathering and he went towards the bathroom. "Chase! Why are you carrying her in your arms?! You are a CEO, you shouldn't be doing those things." Julie said as she intercepted Chase's way. It seemed like she was just seeing me in Chase's arms. I smirked a little when I heard her mention Chase's status as a CEO. she must have googled Chase. Well, good for her. Her standing had dropped in Chase's sights with that sentence mentioning his wealth. Chase did not like that. This particular issue was one of the reasons I was careful with the relationship between Chase and I. I did not want to be grouped with the other women in his eyes. I did not want to lose more than I would gain. "Oh." Chase drawled, "Where should she stay then? The floor? Or with Ted?" I peeked at her and I saw her face going red. "I know what happened. I would get back at you." Chase did not say any threatening words but Julie's red face paled instantly. "I-i didn't have anything to do with Ted trying to assault her!" Julie stammered, "How can we be sure she isn't the one to seduce Ted?" "I did not know Rachel was that kind of person. You would tell me more when my people visits you." Chase said before he resumed his walk. "Why are you even taking this personal?! She isn't your wife or sister." Julie screamed hysterically. I flinched from her words. Visibly, the aura around Chase turned cold. "We would see how important she is later." He turned to Norman, "Let's go." Norman walked past Julie and he bumped shoulder with her. I smiled at my brother's action but my mind was elsewhere. My mind was on Julie's words. One part of me wished Chase said I was his beloved or something. Still, I knew that was my imagination. I looked down at my dress. I don't know if Chase noticed my new outfit and style. Except for his dark eyes when he arrived, there was no other indication that he might have liked it. The dress was ruined for me because Ted touched it. The cold air outside the school hall chilled my face. The alcohol's effect on me began clearing little by little. "Did you bring a car?" Chase asked Norman. "Yeah." Norman flashed the keys to his car. "Give it to my bodyguard. We would use my car instead." Chase stated before he went to his limousine. We did not notice his bodyguards because he left them outside when he came in. Besides, they stayed inconspicuous so they were hard to notice. "Nothing is wrong with my car though." Norman said with hand still holding his key. Chase didn't look at him, he just sat into his car. One of the bodyguards had already opened the door for him. "It would be more comfortable." He finally replied and Norman shrugged. Chase held me for a few more seconds before settling me in the seat beside him. My brother sat down in the car too and he closed the door. The car began to move. "Rachel, what happened back there? I did not want to say anything since Chase was already defending you." Norman said with a serious face. Oh, the sis-con was back in business. I looked out of the window. I could not really see anything but the tinted glass. Still, I kept my eyes on the window stubbornly. That bathroom incident was like a nightmare. I could still remember the liberating feeling I got when I saw Chase before me. It wasn't something I would describe with words alone. I thought my fate would be sealed. I thought I would be violated by the disgusting person called Ted. My eyes glinted coldly. I don't care if Chase was going to get retribution for me, I was going to deal with Julie. If she thinks it was fun to decide to ruin someone's life on a whim, she was going to be very mistaken. "Chase had already talked about it. Julie tried to get Ted to sexually assault me doing a school reunion." I tried to keep my tone of voice light, "I don't know what she had planned aside from that." Thinking deeply, I don't think that would be the end of Julie's machinations. She would not be satisfied with seeing me hurt. She would want the public to know. She might have led some of our classmates to catch Ted in the act as a way to tarnish my reputation. It is crazy. If I think of all the possibilities that would have turned into reality if Chase had not saved me, my eyes stung. The sadder I was, the more I sought to get my revenge on Julie. I thought this school reunion was going to be the hallmark of a new beginning but I was wrong. I hope it would not be the start of my nightmares. "What?!" Norman slammed his hand on the compact hand rest beside him. "How can she do that?" Norman questioned, "I should have done something to her before we left." "She is going to get payback." My voice unknowingly darkened. A light rap on my head brought me out of my dark thoughts. I turned to Chase. "Stop thinking nonsense. I will deal with her." His eyes glinted coldly when he reached the end of his words. My heart warmed and all the dark thoughts faded away. I had not truly given up on getting my revenge on Julie but I had important things to do. I had to cherish the moments like this that showed Chase's care for me. My resolve to get Chase was getting stronger. I can not wait to get home. I wanted to plan strategies to get Chase. I can not let him slip away. He is mine.
