Chapter 7Ray handed him the tube of sunblock. “Would you put some of this on my back?” Jesse leered. “Gladly.” It was a hot, sunny mid-July Saturday afternoon. When Jesse had said he’d like to go swimming, Ray had suggested Maumee Bay State Park, where there were two beaches: one on Lake Erie, the other on a smaller lake—a large pond, actually. They were sitting on an old camp blanket Ray had brought along, watching the waves roll in from Lake Erie. Which, except that the waves were smaller, looked very much like an ocean.
