9: Careful What You Wish For

1230 Words
"Liz are you alright?", the nights events replayed in my head. I could not believe I allowed my emotions to get the best of me. Sebastien. I knew he was upset. I could feel it. How could I be so impulsive? I'm lucky elder didn't kill me, or worse, turn me into one of his little zombie pets. "What the hell were you thinking Liz?", Juliet's voice shook me out of my thoughts, "We were all so scared, we thought he was going to kill you" My brows furrowed as I pushed back tears and drove my head into a pillow. These ones weren't as soft as Sebastien's. Last night he ordered the maids to bring me to their quarters to sleep, as he probably couldn't stand the sight of me. Can you blame him?, I thought to myself in shame. I wasn't thinking about anything, but my pride in that moment. I didn't think about my well-being, I didn't think about Sebastien, and I especially didn't think about my mama or little sister. I'm such a f*****g hothead. So selfish. I shook my head and let out an exhausted sigh, "Juliet, where is he?" Juliet's prior questions didn't interest me being that the answers would constitute me reliving last night's events. The first thought that came to mind when I awoke was Sebastien. All I could think about was how mad he was, if he slept well the night before, what he did after leaving me on the ground-  What if he left? What if he finally decides that he's tired of my s**t?  "Liz?", I didn't know the tears were falling until she wiped them away, "Liz, you need to calm down" My mind could hear the words, but my body refused to listen. It was as if it was over exaggerating without my permission. All it yearned for was Sebastien, "I c-can't" I've never been much of a crier so I knew it was his blood doing this to me. When a hybrid shares their blood with their mate, The Convergence begins. My mother explained it to me before I left. The Convergence was a curse set by the warlock who created the first Lycan woman. The mysogny in him couldn't get with the idea of an independent woman getting to f**k who she wanted, so he conjured up the Convergence. The Convergence is not a process that mates want to go through, as it ultimately makes you one with your partner. The Convergence gives one the abilities they might have lacked when they were on their own.  Think of it as Survival of the Fittest where only the best traits among mates survive. Again, the Convergence is not a process that anyone wants to go through. It comes with a catch that if one mate dies, then the other must also.  Like a disease, the process can only begin once mates share blood and the only way for it to be avoided is through s*x before completion. Most mates avoid The Convergence altogether, as s*x is like "first date" material for them. Unfortunately, Sebastien and I were not those kinds of mates, especially not now. The Convergence came in 3 stages and I was in Stage 1: Attachment. "Juliet, where is he?", Juliet handed me a napkin as I continued my blubbering. "He's upstairs in his office", Juliet spoke with pity, as if I were a beggar on the street. The Liz in me was embarrassed. She was so embarrassed that she almost didn't rush up the stairs towards Sebastien's office and bust in with puffy eyes.  Being that those events happened, she clearly wasn't embarrassed enough. No words were spoken. He didn't even flinch when I bust open the door, almost as if he were expecting my grand entrance. All that could be heard was his pen scratching along paper. I slowly closed the door and made my way to the familiar seat in front of his desk. I sunk into it as if I had just landed myself into the principal's office. Again The silence. It felt endless. "Sebastien", I whispered in a volume that barely reached my own ears. My glance went from the floor to his head. His eyes were still on his work as his hand continued to move in sync with the pen. I cleared my throat, "Sebastien?" This time, I spoke a little louder and I watched as his jaw clenched in response. Sebastien's eyes remained glued, but the movement of the pen intensified causing the scribble sound to heighten.  "Sebastien!", I tried one more, this time with bass in my voice and the snap of the pen cutting through the air.  Now the room was completely silence. Emptiness bounced off the walls and it disappointed me that we were back to square one. Just when we were getting somewhere. Sebastien took a deep breath as he looked from his now ink stained suit cuff, to me. His black eyes pierced mine and I could see the blue already spreading on his neck. So quick.  I cleared my throat as I straightened my back to properly speak to him, "I am so sorry" Nothing. "I didn't mean for the dinner to happen like that, I mean- we know how I am", I tried again. Nothing "Sebastien, please say something", Once more. Nothing. He wouldn't even blink. The more we kept in eye contact, the more my heart sunk. It felt like he was beating me up and the worst part was that I deserved it.  With no other words to say, I began to get up for my departure. Maybe leaving him alone to cool off is will do us some good, I thought to myself.  "Was that it?", He spoke, voice vibrating through the walls, "That was your apology?" I turned around unable to respond. I wasn't expecting for him to talk to me.  "You recklessly speak to my father, almost get yourself killed, put people in danger- and thats your apology?" Sebastien then began to laugh which caused my heart to jump.  I really hated the unhinged side of him and yet I was always the one to bring it out.  "I tell you that my father is one of the most impulsive men on this planet. He has proven himself numerous times to be the most abusive individual of their own power-", Sebastien choked out the rest of his laugh, "-and you decide to call him out, tell him to go f**k himself- just because he called you weak? You walked right into his trap..." He then began to clap as he got up from his chair, "...Elizabeth. I've come to realize that you're a performer" As he walked toward me, I walked back, "Aside from lacking f*****g self control, for months, you have been complaining, you have been running, you have been screaming about how unhappy you are-" My back hit the door, "Sebastien" "-please. Don't say my name. The only f*****g reason you're feeling anything right now is because of the convergence" Tears streamed down my face as I felt where this was going. Liz you're about to get what you've been wanting for months, yet you're throwing a blubbering fit about it. The beast and I now stood nose to nose, "Don't worry Elizabeth. You won't have to do any of this bullshit anymore. After tonight, you've said about everything you've needed to say." I sniffled and my eyes squeezed shut already knowing what he was about to say, "When this convergence is over, I'm going to give you what you've been itching for. I, Sebastien, The Hybrid-Bastard king, am going to reject you"
