3: Josie & Juliet

"Is this really necessary?" I asked looking outside our bedroom door to the same two guards that had yanked me from my family the previous day. Today, they have been ordered to follow my every move just in case I decided to run again.  "Yes, it's very necessary", Sebastien spoke grabbing his button up and tie, "I have Bastard Immortal- Alpha- King duties to tend to and I'll need my mate to still be here when I come back.."  Ever since I've first let my younger sisters nickname for my wonderful mate slip, he has not stopped mocking me for it. I rolled my eyes towards the agitating figure and watched as he began to button over his black collared button up and tuck it into his dress pants.  His hair was still wet from his shower and every once in a while, he'd grab the towel from the bed in a pathetic attempt to dry it and stop it from rolling onto his neck and down to his chest. He claimed that he had no time to blow-dry his hair so the towel would have to suffice.  To me, anyway it was a beautiful sight- but I had to force myself to rip my eyes away from this evil being. I had to keep reminding myself that though he was my mate, he didn't deserve my admiration or infatuation.  "Stop mocking" I spoke as he finally finished buttoning and grabbed on his black tie.  His brows furrowed as he put the tie around his neck and muttered, "Why? Isn't that what bastards do? I'm shocked you didn't add beast..." "I'm shocked you added alpha", I mumbled with him not hearing a thing. I shifted on my right leg as I watched him struggle with his tie. He looked completely lost as I watched him lowly growl in frustration. I stifled a giggle, how do you wear suits everyday of your life and not know how to tie a tie?  He looked up to me and rolled his eyes before turning around, "Where are you going?" "I'm going to go find Josie-", Josie was his head maid in his house, "-She's going to help me with my tie" I rolled my eyes and motioned him towards me, "Come 'ere, I'll do it"  He hesitated for a moment and gave me a weird look before clearing his throat and walking towards me. "I could really just get Jo-" I grabbed his tie slightly choking him just enough to make him stop talking.  "Let me tell you the story of the Rabbit and The Fox," I smirked thinking about my mother and when she used to always get the little wolf boys of the pack ready for special occasions," There once was a fox who tried to have a rabbit for dinner. Gathering his senses about the fox, the rabbit bounded away with the fox snapping at his cotton tail" I began tying and telling the story as he smiled down at me, "Once around the tree, the fox  chased the rabbit. Twice around the tree the little rabbit fled with the quick gray fox close behind. Time struggling under the bush. With a giant leap, the little rabbit cleared the top of a big round log. The quick gray fox wasn't quite quick enough.  He wouldn't be dining on rabbit that evening" I finished by pulling the blade to tighten the knot and patted the tie smiling at my great work. I laughed to the fact that I actually had this instilled in my memory.  I guess my mother recited it so much, I managed to some how catch on.  Mother. I smiled thinking of my mother. I missed her so much.  Sebastien looked down holding his tie up as if to examine it and smiled at me. He then took me by surprise by bringing his arms around my waist into a gentle embrace. It took me a second, but I eventually reciprocated these actions and felt that tingly feeling that you feel when you're with your mate. I hate this, I tried to convince myself. But it seemed like the more I tried to force myself to hate it, the more my body seemed to give into him. I held him unintentionally closer to my body for a couple more minutes before his phone rang. We both awkwardly cleared our throats after parting so that he could answer his phone. "Yes.....yeah...Pa," he stared at me the entire call, "I'll be there in a few minutes.....sorry- father.........Yes sir...yes sir", as he hung up he grabbed his black suit jacket on. "Okay so, I'll be back in a couple of hours. If you need anything, James and Mason are here. And if they can't help, Josie should be downstairs-", he looked as if he were going to come in for another hug, but decided against it.  All I got was another weird look and a simple croaked goodbye.  He should've hugged me. I thought to myself looking down and sighing aloud throwing myself into the bed. I didn't feel like spending my day trapped here with asshole and ass-kisser of asshole. I already said I wouldn't run again.  I rolled around the bed already feeling claustrophobic in this huge bedroom.  Instead of wasting my life away, I decided to freshen up. After getting ready, quickly grabbing on a pair of jeans and a random plain blue t-shirt provided, I decided to go for breakfast. Of course, right outside my door stood James, asshole and Mason, ass-kisser of asshole. Both men wore all black dress shirts and pants. They both looked straight forward with their arms crossed.  Posers. I internally rolled my eyes and approached my guards. "Hey a- I mean James. Mason." I said looking to the two figures that would be babysitting me today.  James looked to me and said nothing. Naturally, Mason had also done the same. I held my hand to my heart dramatically looking at them gasping, "Oh the silent treatment? Oh no! How will I live?" I laughed at the two figures in amusement. If I annoy them, maybe I won't be so overly guarded. I began to then poke James' torso. I tilted my head in fake surprise, "Huh, you're not as muscular as I thought you'd be. This is sad Jamie boy, you need to stop with the hamburgers and innocent villages. It's not doing great for your health..."  I smirked to myself as he harshly grabbed my hand and throwing to my side, "OW! JAMIE BOY! You hurt me" At this point, I was highly amused at the annoyed face that had currently been his. "Go away pest," he said deeply, speaking the first thing that he had all day, or ever to me, for that matter.  I shrugged my shoulders with my arms out, "But I can't go anywhere without you guys, remember? You have to be stuck to me like I have to be stuck to you. I'm only trying to be friends for the time being...who knows how long I won't be trusted by my own mate? Could be days, months, even years!" I could hear the heavy sigh of annoyance that had come from James' mouth. I patted his disappointing chest and averted my eyes to my next victim. "Hey Mason, do you think I could go out for ice cream today? Like I really want ice cream", I said sweetly knowing that he wasn't as scary as he tried to let on. Unlike James who enjoyed blatantly ignoring people, Mason stopped looking straight forward and averted his crystal blue eyes down to me, "Luna, you know I can't do that. Besides, there should be ice cream down stairs in the kitchen. If you ask Josie and Juliet they can give you some..." I've told him before along with many others who continue to pass me by and title me, to stop calling me Luna, but it never worked. They all kept addressing me as so and so I've learn to ignore it.  I groaned, "Well is there anywhere around here where I can at least go outside and breathe some fresh air?" Mason actually nodded, "If you go downstairs and ask Juliet to take you to the garden outback, she can take you, Luna, after breakfast" I smiled at his kindness, "Thank you Mason. Thank you for not wanting me to be completely miserable" I patted his arm in approval and glanced from James and back to him, "People like you should have higher positions, you know? I like you. How do I get you promoted?.." Mason laughed shyly and nodded thankfully, "That's a sweet gesture Luna, but you're in no position to do so, no offense" He was so polite. I hated that he had to follow in the footsteps of the likes of James, "Well Mason, you're my best guard as of now" Mason smiled and thanked me before I ran down the stairs to the kitchen where Josie had already prepared my food. "Good morning Josie, I hope all has been well", I smiled grabbing my plate with piled on eggs, bacon, and waffles. Josie was a beautiful old woman who aged wonderfully. She had very little grey hairs and was very active for a woman of sixty-eight years of age. She was also very whimsical and wise.  Her short kinky dark brown hair with the exceptions of grey, stopped at her shoulders and was styled in the bun she always wore. She also always wore these beautiful earrings that she said she got from her late husband. Josie put something in the oven and pouted towards me wiping her hands with her apron cloth, "Why did you try to leave me?" She questioned referring to me running to see my family. I sighed not wanting to explain this over again. I just hoped that Josie understood where I was coming from and how I felt. "..I just wanted to say goodbye to my family. I'm sorry, it won't happen again" I began to eat my food awkwardly not wanting to have a whole other conversation about this.  She nodded and stood across the island that I'd been eating on, "Luna. He almost went insane without you. He thought you'd reject him. Please don't do that again, even if it's to see your family. The moon goddess has made us your family now-" There's that title again. I ate my food and kept my head low, "-But Josie, please understand. Everyone knows he's a monster and how he is. It is the worst thing to be his mate. And I wasn't just going to leave my family hanging high and dry wondering when or if I was coming home. I couldn't just put my life on hold because he murmured the word mate"  I took a sip of my orange juice and continued to stuff my face, "But Luna. You're not just any Luna- you're the Luna. You have to start thinking as the Luna. And you left on a very important night" I nodded in understanding to her truthful facts. I was wrong for leaving at the time I did, but that was the only time everyone was vulnerable and wouldn't suspect me within such a big crowd of people. Josie's right. I should start thinking like the Luna. But how can you start acting like something you don't even want to be?  I sighed aloud as she sweetly grabbed my hand, "And about the Alpha, he's been through a lot. You have to also understand that. He's not a monster, unless you refuse to try and see what's on the inside. He's not a monster Luna. Some people just don't grow up like everyone else and they're forced to be- " She stopped and looked down, "-just please, give him a chance okay?" I stopped chewing a little bit and nodded slowly before she let me go.  In then walked the sweet maid who'd brought clothing for me the night before. I hadn't really noticed her face last night, but when I did- it dawned on me that she looked almost exactly like Josie. She walked into the room and once she saw me, she held her head low and walked towards Josie. "Got anything for me today mother?", the girl seemingly younger than me asked. "Do you have anything for me today mother?" Josie politely corrected towards her daughter as she tilted her head up, "Juliet, what'd I say about being so shy in front of new people? She won't bite you. Relax sweetie, and yes I do have some tasks" Josie faced Juliet towards me and I waved smiling.  Juliet was beautiful. Her brown skin was just as flawless as her mothers and her hazel colored eyes captivated me immediately. Her hair was too in a bun, but it was not as kinky as her mothers. It was more so curly. She had to be at least seventeen, "Hey Juliet, I'm Elizabeth, but you can call me-" Her mother interrupted me before I could tell her my nickname, "-Luna. You can call her Luna and don't you let me hear you calling her anything else" She ran her finger down Juliet's nose causing Juliet to move her head in embarrassment, "Respect" Juliet smiled back towards me and moved away from her mothers side of the island towards mine. "So Juliet, I heard you could lead me to the garden? I'd really like to see it", I smiled sweetly. She nodded, "Sure Luna, follow me" _____
