A week has gone by without a word or interaction with Sebastien.
A full 7 days, 16 hours, 30 minutes, and 52 seconds without so much as a “hi”. In the few cases where we’d encounter one another, I attempted to speak to him, but I was only ever granted silence. For old Liz, this would’ve called for a celebration, but Attachment Liz was going through hell.
For the first couple of days, I could barely eat and sleep came easy as my body often exhausted me. Often, it would get so bad to the point where I couldn’t get out of bed.
It wasn’t until the end of the week that I grew more able to control my outbursts. What brought me comfort was the realization that Sebastien would never truly reject me and that he could only stay upset, but for so long. I would also use the mantra Josie and Juliet taught me. Though there were a few incidents here and there, my body would eventually start to become my own again.
“Liz, what are you thinking?”, Juliet spoke as she picked the weeds from the ground.
Not wanting to leave me alone, Juliet would have me garden with her as often as she could. If it weren’t her attempting to keep me busy, it was her mother.
“Nothing”, I breathed out taking the weeds from her and placing them into the basket. The chore felt so domestic and it reminded of my mother. She would have probably danced for joy seeing me now. These were the kinds of things she’d always wanted me do with her as a child rather than going with my father to hunt.
I briefly smiled at the thought of my father.
“So you’re feeling okay?”, Juliet softly spoke and I rolled my eyes as I could sense her badgering peeking through the conversation.
“Juliet, I’m not weak”, I trailed in annoyance. Being asked if I was okay every second served as a constant reminder of my pitiful state.
Juliet nodded her head as we continued our walk through the garden, “I know”
The silence that was there before returned. When we got to the last crop, Juliet grabbed the basket from me.
Her hand hovered over her eyes to shade from the sudden sunlight and mine did the same.
“Liz?”, Juliet’s eyes peaked from under her hands to pear into mine, “You know it’s okay right?”
My head tilted in confusion.
“It’s okay to be weak sometimes”, she looked me up and down as if to examine me, “You don’t have to be strong all the time”
It was never okay to be weak.
My thoughts, again, trailed to my family and the amount of strength it took for us to stay afloat. It was my strength that supported my mother when my father couldn’t. It was my strength that taught my little sister to defend herself on those dangerous walks to the market and it was my strength that kept them encouraged when this bastard took me away from them.
My brows furrowed and I scoffed, “Juliet, I understand that you’ve been confined in these borders your whole life so let me be the one to inform you”
I pointed towards the horizon that consisted of the land of civilians, “Out there, all we’ve got is strength”
Weakness could never be an option for people like me. Most of our strength has been taken away from us and holding onto the small crumb that is left is almost as dear as holding onto life itself-”
“-Juliet?!”, our moment was interrupted by another maid calling for Juliet’s assistance.
Juliet looked from the maid and back to me with furrowed brows.
“They’re calling for me early”, she nervously chuckled.
On her way towards the other maid she turned back towards me, “The hot tub was just cleaned if you want to go and relax for a bit”
A smile spread across my face at the mention of the hot tub. For the past few days, it has served as a safe haven for me away from the madness. Not only did it numb my mental exhaustion, but it also relaxed my aching bones. Julie thought it was a good idea to introduce me to the hot tub after one of my horrible spells over Sebastien. Time in the hot tub provided me the chance to let go of all of the chaotic energy and think deeply without destroying myself.
As soon as she said the words, I hastily made my journey away from the two maids and towards my favorite part of the estate.
Another great aspect of the hot tub was that it was located in arguably the most secluded area behind the estate. From there, I had a great view of a field that led straight into the forest where the trees seemed to touch the horizon.
Upon arrival, I stripped myself into my undergarments and took no time to dip into the bubbling hot water. My eyes closed and I let out a deep sigh as my legs sat and my arms dallied. Every ounce of my being from my ears down to my toes thanked me as soon as they met.
The feeling was orgasmic.
While in the water, per usual, my mind began to trail to every decision I’ve made up until this point.
I wondered if Sebastien really had it in him to reject me.
I wondered why I cared so much if that’s what I’ve been wanting the whole time.
I wondered about the things we did before the dinner.
I blushed, my eyes still closed, and my mind packing with images of Sebastien.
His smirk when I did something amusing, his sexy brow twitch when he was upset, his soft hair when he laid on my chest, his eyes rolling back when I-
No. A sigh of humiliation left my lips when I felt the wetness between my legs.
Sebastien has highjacked my conscious.
“Hey!”, I jolted at the sound of the familiar voice calling for me. More heat rose to my cheeks as if I’d been caught doing something I wasn’t supposed to do.
I opened my eyes to see Jamie, Mason, Sebastien, and his younger brother Luis, all of whom were drenched in blood in the middle of the big field. In the hands of the two guard-dogs were the limbs of a dead deer while Luis and Sebastien walked in front of them empty handed. From the looks of things, it seemed like they all went hunting or in the case of the two brothers, feeding.
“What are you doing?”, Luis, the one who originally made note of my existence, was now standing in front of the hot tub with Sebastien by his side. The two guard-dogs stood afar as they watched the backs of their masters.
Before responding, I caught Sebastien’s eyes, which were filled with nothingness. I averted my eyes to Luis and faked a smile, “I’m relaxing”
“Obviously silly” Luis sarcastically remarked before ridding the side of his face with blood and revealing his blue freckles, “I mean why are you outside all by yourself?”
A genuine smile crept onto my face at the realization that Luis came to reassure my protection.
“Well, I don’t know if you’ve met her yet, but Elizabeth doesn’t do well with instruction”, Sebastien followed with a sarcastic chuckle which caused my heart to flutter and legs to shift uncomfortably. Even if the words weren’t directed towards me, they were the first I heard him speak in over week.
“Well let’s hope she doesn’t do that tomorrow night huh?”, Luis joined his brother in a chuckle, but Sebastien shoved him in response.
My brows furrowed in confusion, “What’s tomorrow night?”
Luis shook his head towards his brother as he peeled dry blood off his knuckles, “f**k, you didn’t tell her about her own re-announcement?”
Sebastien sent his brother a glare of annoyance before bringing his attention towards me, “I’m going to send a maid out to summon you when I’m ready. We have to talk”
Sebastien sent Luis a slap to his head followed with a “I can’t enjoy my blood rush for two seconds..." before the two men left me dumb-founded in the hot-tub.
