Amelia’s POV:
“Are you okay?” Quiel asked trying to remove the weird aura. The ride home was silent; it was pretty silent you could actually hear a pin drop. “Yeah, I’m fine. Why do ask?” I asked as I tried my best to make a conversation. “Nothing, you just seem quiet.” He said. “Are you sure you are okay?”
There are a lot of reasons why I’m quiet. First, I’m with my crush. Second, I thought he and Nathan are going to fight. Third, I don’t know what to say. Fourth, if I don’t know what say, I get nervous and I get stuttered. For the fifth and final reason, my were interrupt when my stomach growl out loud. Yup, for the fifth and final reason why I’m quiet is because I’m hungry.
“Was that your stomach growling?” Quiel asked, trying not to laugh but sadly he failed. “Don’t laugh at me.” I said as I felt embarrassed. “I’m sorry” He said. “If you are hungry then you could have say something.” He said. He has a point though but still I was planning to eat at home.
“Because I’m planning to eat at home, I said with full honesty. Quiel didn’t say a word but went a turn thru McDonalds. “Why are we here?” I asked. “Because, your stomach is growling and wanted food.” He said. “I have no money.” I said shyly, “We can just go home.”
Quiel looked at me for a few seconds but didn’t listen to me. Instead, he ordered us some food and went to pay for it. “It’s my treat.” He smiled as he hand he the paper bag. “I’m also hungry and wanted to grab a burger.” He said.
I felt bad at first but then decided to take the brown bag. “I’ll pay on Monday.” I said, still feeling bad. “You don’t need to. Like I’ve said, it’s my treat.” He insisted. I have to repay him somehow. We ate our food in silence and continue the ride.
“Thanks again for the ride and for the food.” I said as we stopped in front of my house. “No worries” He smiled. “I’m glad that I could help.” Quiel is not a bad person at all. I never thought that he have this sweet side of him. I can’t believe would say stuffs to him.
You know what they say, Never judge a book by its cover…..
I was about to get out the car when Quiel stopped me. He quickly got out of his car and went to the passenger seats to open my door. Someone’s being a gentleman. I thought to myself. “Thanks” I said with a confused look and got of his car.
“You are truly a big help.” I said. “I can’t thank you enough. Just let me know what I can do to make it up.” From the cafeteria incident, to the ride home plus, the food treat. I must repay him, my guilt will only eat me if don’t do something. “Don’t worry about it.” Quiel chuckled from my eagerness. “It’s like you said before, you can help others without asking any in return.
“If you say so, Thanks again. I really appreciate everything.” I smiled as I watched him get into his car and drive across the street. Once he got off his car, I wave good bye before entering the house. Today was a fun day. I said to myself.
I really thought that I’ll still be the talk of the town but thanks to Quiel, I wasn’t. He really does consider me as friend. As I got ready for bed, I notice the business card that Nathan handed to me before. I guess that’s my itinerary for tomorrow. I still need to find a gift for grandma. Plus, I need to talk to some caterers for the food. I have a busy day tomorrow.
I went to visit the jewelry shop that Nathan recommended and let me tell, the store is so beautiful. I’m inlove with it. I was able to see some locket that would perfect for grandma. I bought a vintage silver locket for grandma and I just print out our pictures and put it inside the locket.
Time to cross out “gift” from my checklist; let’s see here, I have found the gift, brought a dress and the place will be in our backyard since we have a huge space there. I just decided to have a small party for grandma, since it’s just the two of us and some of her friend.
What about my parents you asked? T be honest, I don’t know. Both of them have been M.I.A after the last talk I have with mom. Maybe they already forgot that they have a daughter. Let’s forget it, no negative vibe, just a happy vibe for today.
So, I have three cross out and two more thing to do; the food and my dress. Even though that I’m not a fan of dresses, I need to look appreciative and presentable for her birthday duh. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about her cake. I still need to buy the ingredients. I promise her that I’ll be the one who will bake her cake on her 70th birthday. I’m planning to do her favorite Mango Bravo cake, well our cake.
The special number… I must sing as well. I need to write down before I forget.
“Can I see your menu for catering?” I asked the restaurant that grandma and I love. “Here you go” the receptionist smiled as she handed me the menu. I’m here at the Chef’s Cuisine and let me you that the food here is so expensive but the taste are really worth it. Grandma and I usually come here once or twice in year depending on the occasion. I remember before that she wanted to eat here on her 70th birthday but since it is a long walk from our house, I decided to have it catered. Believe me; I plan this for how many months.
“Can I help you?” A staff asked as she went towards me. “Yes, I was just wondering if are available for catering at the end of the month?” I smiled and the staff nodded and offered me a seat for to us to discuss.
