Amelia’s POV:
“Hey Falcon” Nathan smiled as he greeted me. “Hey Nathan” I greeted back. “What’s up?” I ask as Nathan walk towards me. “Nothing much, by the way, my mom really love your cake. She wanted to meet you.” He said. Wow! Someone liked my cake. I’m so honored.
I’m the person who brags that I bake. I don’t classify myself as a professional baker but I love to bake. That’s two different things. “Really” I asked shocked. “You must be playing with me. You don’t have to be nice. You can just tell me the truth that it’s the worst cake you’ve ever tasted.”
“Don’t be silly.” He said. “She really loved your cake. In fact, she wanted to meet you and might get you as a part of her business.” Did I hear that correct? Nathan’s mom wanted to meet me and wanted me to be part of her business. That’s so cool.
I could some money for Christmas. It’s the Christmas season and cakes are in demand. “I loved to meet her.” I smiled. “Great! I’ll let her know about it.” He said. “I guess I’ll see you around.” Nathan was about to turn around when I called him. Nothing bad is going to happen if I asked him right?
“You called?” He asked. “Yeah, uhm, I-I was just wondering if you and Quiel are in good terms?” Nathan’s face frown for a few second and then smiled. “We’re good. Why did you asked?” He asked. To be honest, I just thought that you had a fight with each other last Friday night.” I answered. “Ohh, that fight” Nathan said. “It was nothing. We are like that and besides he got a point. He lives across you street so he must be the one to take you home.”
“You actually don’t have to do that.” I explained. “I can take the bus. I always do.” I add and Nathan nodded. “It’s night. It could be dangerous. We are just looking after our friends.” He smiled. They are both sweet. Can I order one boyfriend just like them? If it’s available, I’ll take one.
“You know what, just forget it.” Nathan said. “Quiel and I are in good terms. We had a game yesterday. Little thing or some kind of misunderstanding won’t harm our friendship. We’ve practically know each other. We grew up together. By just looking, we already knew what the other is thinking.”
He is right. All I need to do is forget about it. At least, I’ve confirmed that they are still in good terms and that’s what matter. Our talk was interrupted when students started running in hallway. “What’s going on?” I asked Nathan but he gave a shrugged. “Beats me, I have no idea.”
We decided to check what the commotion is all about and were shocked when we saw Madi. Let me repeat that, we a Madi 2.0. She is not the Madi that will always greet me with her glasses. This Madi walking towards us has no glasses and had a makeover. Just like nerds who had a beautiful make over. That’s the Madi we are looking at right now.
“Madi” I called with a confused. “Amelia” She squeals as she gave me a hug. “Wow!” I said as we broke apart. “You looked different. It’s a good different. What happen?” I still cannot believe that this pretty girl in front of me is my best friend.
“We had a bet last Saturday and guess who won, me.” She said with a huge smile on her face. “We are playing a game of poker and I told them that if I win, I will have an eye surgery so I can say bye bye to my glasses and will have a makeover.
“Aren’t you too young to play poker?” I smirked. “Who cares, I’m with an adult and I won.” She said and we laughed. “This look totally fits you.” I smiled. “Thanks” She smiled back. “Looking hot there” Nathan smirked. “Next time, teach me how to play poker” He winked at Madi.
“Sure, I can even tell you my secret.” She smirked. Is there something missing here, something that I couldn’t lay my finger on? “You okay?” Madi asked me and I nodded. “Yeah”
The bell suddenly rang indicating that classes will begin. “See you guys later.” Nathan said as he waved good bye. “See you at lunch Amelia.” Madi smiled as she waved to me before entering her classroom. Why do weird things happen every day? Why can’t it be a normal day?
More importantly why is everyone being weird? First Quiel, with his chocolate bar note and now Madi and Nathan, with weird exchanging looks. I have weird friends, probably because I’m weird as well. If you ask me, weird is better than normal. Normal is boring while weird is being unique in your own way. But not too much weirdness, that is different and you could end up in the mental hospital.
Just like what our Ms. Universe Catriona Gray said, everything is good but in moderation and I thank you. Yeah, I’m totally weird.
“Hi Madi, these are for you.” One student said as he hand her a flower. “Thank you.” Madi smiled and took the flowers. “17” I said once the student left. “Huh? Sorry?” Madi said. “That’s the 17th flower you received.” I said. “You got that wrong” Madi was cut another student gave another flower. “18.” I said.
“Stop counting.” She playfully glares at me. “I can’t help it. My best friend is so popular. I’m just happy for you.” I smiled. “But promise me that you will not choose me over Alexa.” This time was a little serious. “Are you kidding me?” Madi asked as she gave me a “are you crazy look.” “There is no way that I’ll choose them over you. You are my best friend.” Madi smiled.
“Look what we have here?” A familiar voice said. Can’t she just give up? You know what they say, the more you talked about one person the more it will haunt. “Speaking of the devil, she here.” Madi whisper as Alexa and her minions came towards us.
