Love Me Like You Did

CHAPTER 17

Amelia’s POV:

“It is 81 versus 79 with the Panthers leading for less than a minute.” The announcer said. It was the Knights versus the Panthers and the Panthers are two points on the lead. You can hear the tension inside the gym. Cheerleaders cheering for the team and the coach are trying to do their best.

“Adams was about to score but he was blocked. Time out for the Knights” The announcer said. Come on Knights, you can do this. The whole school was chanting Knights for support. 15 seconds left on the clock and it is still 81 versus 79. The Knights must score a three point shoot for the victory.

Coach Fredrick were huddling the boys. While he was huddling them, Quiel looked at my direction looking sad. And, of course as a friend I would smile to cheer him up along with a mouthing of “you can do it.”

I think he get my message because he smiled at him and suddenly his aura change. For a certain second, Quiel face looked so confident in winning the game. The guys went back to this court. It was the Knight’s ball. Nathan has ball and dribble near the basket when decided for a three point shot, but two panther member was in front of him trying to block his view.

7 seconds left when Nathan threw the ball to Quiel, who has open space. Quiel got the ball and threw it and went straight to basket enough time when the buzzer hits to Zero. They won! The Knights won! We won!

I can’t believe it. Nathan was just a decoy after all. They won the game. “They won the game Amelia.” Madi said as she faced me looking so happy. “They did win.” I smiled at her. They both decided to help to congratulate Quiel and Nathan.

There are a lot of girls taking pictures of Quiel and Nathan, but Quiel saw me and went towards me. “Congratulations!” I said. “Thanks! You were a great help.” He said. “Me? What did I do?” I asked him confused. “Earlier I thought we were done but when I saw you smiling at me, which boost my confidence and help me, realize that we still win the game.” Quiel smiled. “So again thank you so much.”

“You’re welcome” I said, still unsure how did I helped him.

Our talking moments were interrupted when Coach Fredrick approaches us. “Mr. Adams, may I have a few words with you?” He asked. Quiel and I looked at each other for a few seconds, knowing what the talk will be all about. Quiel nodded and excuses himself.

“Hey” A voice came from behind. I turn around and saw Nathan smiling at me. Someone is happy. “You seem happy.” I smiled. “Because we won, all thanks to you.” He said. Again with the “me” word. “Me? What did I do?” I asked.

“You came to our game.” He said. I’m still not getting his point. “We all came to your game.” I clarified. “The more fans we got on the gym, the more we are determined to win.” I smiled. Now I get it. “I see you,” I chuckled. “So, are you having fun with the ladies around you?” I teased. “The more ladies I get the more I have right?” Nathan said, adding to my joke.

“Amelia” Madi called as she approached us. “Come on, there are a lot of students in front of the stall. Let’s go.” She said as she drags me away from Nathan. “Sorry, I have to go. Congratulations again,” I yelled as I followed Madi to her stall.

Madi’s K-pop collections were all sold out including the panda bear stuff toys. Madi is definitely treating after this exhausted day. We are now closing the store when Quiel and Nathan stopped by along with some basketball member.

“Are guys closed already?” One member said. “We are now packing some of our stuffs.” Madi answered. “Anything, I could help you with? You can come in to have a look.” The guys went inside the stall trying to search whatever they are looking for. “Do you have anything for little sisters?” One guy asked. “What does you sister like?” I asked nicely. “Girly stuffs.” The guy answered and they started to laugh. I don’t see that funny.

There laughing moments were cut when Quiel walked towards them. “If you’re not going buy anything then I suggest that you get the hell out here.” Quiel said, looking pissed. “Sorry dude, it won’t happen again.” They apologize to Quiel and looked at me to apologize. “Don’t worry about it.” I smiled. “But seriously, any gifts for little sister.” The guy asked again. “We have lots of toys for girls.” I answered back.

“My sisters are not actually into pink stuff.” He said. “That’s why I’m having a hard time finding them a gift.” Girls that are not into girls’ stuff, which somehow rings the bell. Someone I know off. I can definitely him with that problem.

“How old are your sisters?” I asked. “They are both 8. They are twins.” He answered. Double the trouble, I might say. “You know what, I can total help you out. “ I smiled with confidence. “We have a lot of stuffs are not so girly and not pink.” I can definitely help him, just need some questions and we are good to go.

“But first, I just need to ask some question.” I said and he nodded. “What are your sister fan of?” I asked. “Are they into superheroes or bears or probably K-pop? I asked but he shook his head. “J-pop perhaps?” I asked again but he shook his head again. “No, they hate that stuff but they wanted to be a cheerleader and they always watch Riverdale.” He said. And, that gave me an idea.

“Wait, aren’t they too young to watch Riverdale?” I asked but he just gave me a shrugged. “Anyways, I have the perfect gift for your sisters.” I smiled as I went to the drawer and took out a Riverdale cheerleader clothes. “Here you go?” I smiled as I handed him the clothes. “Two Riverdale cheerleading clothes for your twin sisters.”

He looked satisfied at the gift that I gave him. “These are perfect. They would definitely love this.” He smiled. “I’m chad by the way.” He said as he reaches his hand. “Amelia” I said as I took his hand and shake it.

“I better pay for this and again thank you so much.” He said as he let go of my hand and went towards to Madi to pay the clothes. “Someone fancying you,” A voice popped out of nowhere. I looked up and saw Nathan with a teasing look. “No one is fancying me.” I said. “Say what you want.” He said. “Are you going to buy something or just teased me.” I asked with a hint of irritation.

“Fine, I’ll look for something.” He said as he went to find something.

School is now over and weekends are coming. I can’t wait to go to home and sleep. I can hear my blanket and pillow calling me. The guys also helped us to close the shop and offered us a ride home. Nathan offered me a ride home but Quiel but in saying that he will take me home since we just leave across each other. Apparently, Nathan has some debating moments before agreeing and offered Madi a ride.

To be honest, I thought they are going to fight. I just hope that things between Nathan and Quiel are going well. But then again, I just wanted to sleep.
