CHAPTER 13

Amelia’s POV:

“I’m sorry Amelia. If I knew that this would happen, I would never go to that competition.” Madi said. Madi has been gone for the past two days for a competition. She is the school’s representative for declamation.

“Madi, it’s okay. If you hadn’t go then wouldn’t get first prize.” I smiled. She won 1st place. Declamation is kind of her thing. She is really good at it. “Well, you might have been killed.” She said, exaggerating the word miserable. “They are not going to kill me. They are only making my life miserable so they could have a date with Alexa.” This is the tenth time that I’ve been explaining to her.

“Miserable or kill, they are still the same.” She explained. She’s got a point there. But for clarification, it’s just miserable and not kills. Anyway, I bet you are wondering why I’m the only one who got bullied and not Madi. The answer is simple, Madi is rich. She is super rich. Her dad owns three five star hotels while her mom owns 3 resorts. That’s house rich they are.

So, she cannot be bullied because her dad sponsors the school parties in one of the hotel. If the school wanted to a for a summer swimming, her mom sponsors it. End of discussion.

“Is it just me or is everyone staring at you?” Madi asked, interrupting my thoughts. I looked at the students and they are indeed looking at me. I scan my body including my back, making sure that there are no stupid notes written on me.

“What are you doing?” Madi asked me. “I’m just checking if something’s on me.” I said, as I continue to look through my bag. That is weird. There is nothing on me. Why are they staring at me? On the other hand, I have Madi with me. Maybe they are staring at her.

“Maybe they are staring at you?” I said. Madi looked at me with a “Are you crazy” look. “Why would they be staring at me?” She asked. “Because you won the declamation contest,” I said. “Which nobody cares about” Madi said. Still looking at me with the “are you crazy”. “How about we just ignore them and keep on walking.” I suggested and she nodded.

“Do you want to go somewhere after school?” Madi asked as she took a sip of her coke. “Where are we going by any chance?” I asked. “It depends.” She said. “Let’s see, today is Thursday and we still have the school fair tomorrow. And, besides I’m still saving grandma birthday party.” I said.

“I can’t you do it in one of our hotels. I can ask my dad for free.” Madi offered. She is really the greatest best friend I ever have. I’m really lucky to have her. “Thanks Madi but I can’t accept your offer. Grandma is old and she cannot travel in far places.” I said.

“I understand that but if you need help, I’m just here.” Madi said. “Thanks. I can really count on you. You are the best.” I smiled and we both laugh. “Someone is happy?” A very very familiar said popped out of nowhere.

“Someone is not?” Madi glared as she looked at Alexa. “Get lost Alexa.” What did I do wrong to deserve this? Tell me please. “Chill out Madi.” Alexa smirked. “I was just passing by and I saw you two laughing. I just can’t help but wonder why?”

“It’s none of your business.” Madi answered as puts her arms on her chest. “I see that.” Alexa said. “By the way, have you heard of my announcement? Our dear Amelia has all the boys chasing her to make her life miserable.” Alexa laughed along with her two minions but suddenly stop.

“In fact, that announcement is still going.” She said as she realizes something. “Why there are no guys making your life miserable?” Alexa shouted enough for the whole cafeteria to hear.

Alexa saw a group of boys and approaches them. “Hey you there,” She said catching their attention. “Do you guys wanted to have a date with me?” She asked and all of them said yes. “Good, make her life miserable and I promise that I would date all of you.”

One guy was about to stand up when his friend pull him down and whisper something. They guy looked scared after that. He and his friends grab their stuff and walked away. “Wait, where are you going?” Alexa asked but they guys didn’t answer. “Come back!” She yelled but the guys didn’t. “COWARDS” She yelled.

She saw another group of guys and walk towards them. “Do you want to have a date with me?” She asked. This time her tone of voice was already angry. The guys were looked scared and shake their heads. “NO ONE,” Alexa yelled as kept on turning left and right. But the guys just ignore her. Some pretended that they are reading a book while wouldn’t look at her.

“I don’t know who life is miserable?” I asked as I went towards her. “You are trying to make my life miserable where in fact you’re the one who is miserable.” One question, why? Alexa is trying to make my life miserable without knowing that she is the one miserable. Who would in their right mind to offer a date to a stranger just to make one person’s life a living hell?

“How dare you talked to me like that?” she said as she gritted her teeth. “And, how dare you. Wanted to make my life miserable,” I said but this time my voice went up. Alexa seems shocked on my sudden burst out, count me in. I too was shocked. I guess there is no more sweet and nice Amelia.

“What did I do to you?” I asked. “If this is all about the singing competition, I’m sorry. Mrs. Cookers was the one who wrote my name by accident. I tried to remove my name but we all know that our grades depend on it. I can’t lose my scholarship.”

“You don’t belong here and you can’t be in this school.” Alexa said. “Kingdom Valley High is the most prestigious and most expensive school. Why on earth they would let a rat inside the school. You are ruining MY reputation.” She said as she about to slap me when someone stops her.
