Darkness enveloped the woods quickly, and the mountainside was like a great curtain which blocked out the stars above as the wolf led Adaria and Khalazori forward. They’d left the Colturian campsite several miles behind, but still the wolf showed no sign of slowing down.
“Where do you reckon he’s taking us?” Khal asked.
“I would be lying if I said I know,” she replied.
Thankfully however, they had only a few more yards to go before the wolf slowed down to a canter. It led them through a small break in the trees, towards a deep gorge in the earth with moss all over. A fire burned inside the hole, illuminating what appeared to be a small campsite. Someone was sitting by the fire, stoking it with their back turned. They turned however, and Adaria saw that it was a young woman.
