This is my only wish...
"What?"
"You heard me. I want a grandchild, I don't want to wait for you anymore"
"Wait, hold on mom. What did you just say? Me getting married? And to who?"
" Justin"
Vicky's eyes popped out filled with shock. She shook her head, no no, she's just thinking. " Mr Elliott's son?"
"Yes!"
"No mom, you can't decide on how to live my life for me!"
"I'm tired of your problem! Why don't you want to get married?! I want a grandchild!" Her mom leashed out her anger on her.
"But I don't want to get married, not now!" Vicky kept trying to tell her mom.
"I am tired of you, ignoring my words so I have decided that you will marry Justin, and it's final!" With that, Maria walked to her room and shut the door tight.
Vicky didn't understand why her mom is acting this way so she asked Cassie what happened to her.
She thought things were already clear between them on that topic.
She had talked with her mom so why's she bringing it up and also being aggressive about it.
"Your mom is getting older each passing day. You need to understand why she keeps acting like that" Cassie told Vicky.
"Auntie, is not that I wouldn't but, I'm not ready yet. Besides I don't have any boyfriend yet"
"Is that so?" Cassie looked at Vicky with cornered eyes.
Vicky couldn't reply her anymore, she's just like her mom anyways.
Cassie was a sudden family friend her mother introduced to her that she hadn't known about for a very long time.
According to her mom, Cassie and her had a problem so she cut tiles with her but now they have patched things up.
Vicky got to her room and eventually drifted to sleep.
She was just too tired of everything.
One side it's her dream to finally meet the CEO and on the other hand it's her mother who's disturbing her on marriage matters.
Her mom doesn't know about her issues with Kris. She never told her mom anything, even when she had almost gone into depression.
Thanks to Kristen, she didn't get too depressed and she secretly went for therapy.
... (At night;)
Vicky woke up to Cassie shaking her, violently.
"What happened?" Vicky asked, confused and puzzled by Cassie's worried face.
"M...ma...ria, Maria!" Cassie stammered, mentioning Vicky's mom.
Vicky's face drowned, "what happened to my mom?" Vicky asked, her heart becoming heavy.
"S...she...she" Cassie kept stammering so Vicky swung her legs off the bed and rushed to her mom.
Vicky felt like fainting as soon as she got to her mom's room.
"Mom!" She screamed, running towards her unconscious mother, lying on the floor.
She kept shaking her mom. "Get up mom, stop this joke! I will get married as you wanted but stop this joke, please!"
Vicky begged her mom
The ambulance came just in time and just as Vicky was about getting into the van, Cassie stopped her.
"What are you doing? She's my mother!" Vicky screamed at her
"But you don't have to go, I will go!" Cassie tried telling her
" No, I will go and you mustn't stop me! " Vicky glared at Cassie, tears dropping down her cheeks.
She entered the van and Cassie couldn't stop her anymore either.
Cassie also entered and the bus took them to the hospital.
Forty-five minutes have passed by but Vicky still couldn't calm down.
The doc came after five minutes later and what she heard next shook her to her core.
"Your mother's illness keeps deteriorating. You shouldn't have been careless " the doctor told her.
" Which illness? " Vicky asked, dejectedly confused.
"Don't you-"
" Doctor, please come with me " Cassie interrupted him as she pulled him along to a corner.
Vicky was appalled by what the doctor had told her so she walked towards them both.
" Cassie, are you hiding anything? Doctor, what sickness are you talking about? " Vicky questioned.
"I..it's nothing" Cassie tried denying
" It's something! You better tell me what's going on!" Vicky almost screamed.
"Your mother have a weak heart, she has cancer in her heart though she's in a better condition now, I'm not sure she will be in the future"
As those words left the doctor's lips, Vicky fell to the ground, reeling with shock.
Cassie rushed to her. "I'm sorry, we both hid it from you. Your mother forced me to" Cassie patted Vicky, who was still shocked by the news.
The doctor didn't know what else to do so he left the two immediately Cassie nodded at him.
"So you aren't a family friend, my mom was talking about? You're a nurse?" Vicky asked, as Cassie explained to Vicky about her mom's sickness.
"It was on your recent birthday that your mom found out about her illness. She didn't want to worry you so she kept it to herself. When she was told about her illness, it was already to late for any cure or surgery so she decided to keep quiet about it. She was still grateful that she has two more years to live "
" Two years? "
" Two years? "Cassie answered. Vicky head began to spin. Her mom had betrayed her.
"Why did you betray me mom?! "Vicky cried bitterly while Cassie just kept consoling her.
An hour had passed and Vicky didn't stop crying. Kristen had also come immediately and was comforting her.
"Your mom is awake" a nurse came to tell Vicky.
Vicky jumped up from her chair and rushed to her mom.
She didn't walk in further to her mom and just stood at the door, looking at her mom with angry tears.
"Why are you standing there? Come baby" her mom stretched out her hands to hug her but Vicky didn't move a muscle.
"Why did you lie to me?" Vicky finally spoke, after a while of silence.
"I never lied, I just didn't want to tell you"
"Because I'm not your daughter!" Vicky let the tears flow down her cheeks.
"No dear, you're more than a daughter to me. Don't say that please" her mom begged.
"But mom, why'd you lie to me?"
"I'm sorry, please forgive me" her mom started crying, and apologizing.
Vicky couldn't see her mom cry anymore so she rushed and hugged her mom
After a while of comforting one another, her mother finally spoke again.
"Can you fulfill one last wish for me my baby?" She asked.
"Yes mom, anything for you!" Vicky said, holding her mom's hands and placing it on her cheeks.
"Please get married and give me a grandchild, before I leave this world. This is my last and only wish"
