It takes me a few moments to pull myself together. But before I do, they’re both already attacking me. Or should I say all of them? My pops’ voice clearly stands out in the background. “What happened this time?” I can hear him say. It triggers me way more than I care to admit. “Did you finally have enough of his snobbishness?” my sister wants to know, while my mom still can’t grasp the thought of what I just told them. “I thought I’ll get to see you walk down the aisle and now I might die before that happens!” she exclaims in an overdramatic way, while I roll my eyes. If I sighed she’d hear me and could have something so say about it. “Sorry, ma’, but I’m not marrying someone who’s a lying, cheating bastard,” I speak up, clenching my jaw at the reminder of that. Being at work is easier.
