Gloriah squirmed against the cold moss draping her cave. Her ears were perked in alarm; she had caught wind of approaching footsteps. Gloriah had never grown accustomed to violence. She had dashed out of the sentencing cave the moment Mother Healer made it clear that she would not let the mage live. Seeking solace in her cave, Gloriah had sat on the ground and cried. She could not imagine the pain of losing a friend, she had lost too much herself. For some mystic reason, she could not bear to see the beast mourn his friend. She had constantly studied him through the proceedings. She had caught a glint of pride in his eyes when the human managed to sway the public’s perception of the mage.
