It was too quiet, eerily quiet. No one moved, no one talked; if it were not for the rising and falling of their chests, one would assume that no one breathed either. All eyes were on the mage standing at the center of the cave. The healers thought him peculiar mostly because he appeared calm. His demeanor was that of an observer, not a creature fearing for his life. If anything, he looked bored, as if all this was a frivolous farce that would end shortly with laughter and applause. Some of the healers’ eyes wandered to the disturbing sight behind the accused. On the wall of the carve, there lay venomous vines that had the capacity to induce unimaginable suffering.
