Chapter Ninety Four

2007 Words

She was not dead. She could not be. She was indestructible. All this was a farce. Denial. When you lose something you cherish, whether it was a wood carving or a pet mane, the first response is usually shock. Your mind numbs, your body freezes, and everything remains still. You build a mental dome around yourself to keep away the horror of loss. Then the dome slowly starts to lift as time slips away, and your mind begins to attempt understanding. But because of the love you possess for what you have lost, you start looking for a logical explanation for their disappearance. You decide that they are lost in a pile of strewn clothes in your chambers or that they were stolen and traded at the market. You begin formulating a plan to retrieve your loss, to make your broken heart whole again.
