Chapter 22 - My Person

Klasy woke up from the ringing of her phone. Her head ached from the alcohol she had drank last night. Trying so hard to find her phone, she opened the lamp on the side table which made her brows furrowed.

When she finally found her phone, first thing she saw was the number of mom. She looked at the time above the notification bar, and it says 4:14 AM. Why would her mom call her at that time? She immediately picked up and put the phone on her ear.

"Mom?" She heard sniffing as she just finished crying. Klasy's heart beats fast. he felt like something bad happened and it's not far from the reality.

"W-what happened, mom?" She asked as her voice broke. The situation is sobbering her up.

"Your dad, he's in the hospital right now. He... got in a car... accident." She knew it was hard for her mom to deliver the news. She was trying so hard not to cry but when she said the last word, her tears started rushing down.

Klasy was stunned. She tried to calm herself. At situations like this, she always tends to panic, but her mom needs her.

"Mom, can you hear me? I'll be right there. I will take the earliest flight. Dad... Will be alright." She tried to sound as reassuring as she can be.

Rowy made a noise from the other bed as if she woke up too. She was too drunk from last night, so even if someone kidn*pped her now she won't be up.

Klasy contacted her manager and asked her to book the earliest flight. Gladly, she was able to find one that leaves at 6 in the morning. Klasy rushed to prepare her things. She left a note on the table saying that she has to go ahead because of what happened to her dad. Her mind was in full chaos, she didn't even remember contacting Theo. She snapped when the airplane started taking off. Theo! He will be worried about her.

She was biting her lower lip the whole time. She hopes Rowy would wake up before Theo so she can tell him. Klasy did not even realize the tears welling up in her eyes. Everything was overwhelming, and she couldn't ask for anyone's help now. She's praying hard that her father would be fine. It was the longest flight she has ever taken. She instructed her manager to wait for the baggage.

Her car and driver was waiting for her in the airport. She was headed to the hospital when she received a call. It was from Theo. She felt like she's going to cry if she hears his voice so she didn't answer. She turned off her phone. The taste of rust from the bleeding of her lips snapped her back to reality. Thankfully, there is no traffic at the moment. It took her less than an hour to get to the hospital from the airport.

She immediately noticed the bodyguards of his dad outside the ER. Her eyes looked for her mom. She was not there.

"Madam..." the head guard approached her.

"Where is mom?" I asked.

"Madam lost her consciousness, she was crying a lot and her blood pressure..." Her heart raced. She asked the guards to please monitor the progress of her dad's surgery. After she heard the details of operation, she asked them to call her right away when the doctor finishes. She headed to the VP room where her mom was currently resting.

"Mom!" She screamed when she saw her mom lying on the bed. She was talking to her secretary with her eyes still in tears.

"Oh god, Klasy. I'm so sorry to be in this state. I didn't mean to collapse..." Her mom apologize and wiped the tears in her eyes. Last thing she wanted to show her daughter is her weakness.

"I understand mom." She gave a tight hug. She wanted her mom to feel that everything will be alright. She wanted to feel her too.

Life can be cruel like this. The other day, she was having the best time of her life, now she is crying for her dad. He was their strength and now that he's in that state, they both didn't know how to be strong.

Klasy made her mom feel at ease. She explained the operation that her dad is currently undergoing and assured her that it will turn out alright. Her mom has a weak heart, but she always tried to show the strong side of her.

When her mom was feeling okay, they both went down to wait for the operation to finish. The secretaries of her dad are busy handling the questions of board members and rescheduling his appointments.

"Where is he going at that early?" She asked her mom when she placed her head on her shoulder.

"He's coming from the branch in Laguna. He had a drink with some of our friends, so he rested until morning. He left our branch there at 3, he wanted to come home early today because we have scheduled golf at 7. I told him to just wait till morning but he didn't listen."

The family of his driver were also waiting outside. Klasy talked to them a while ago and asked them to be strong. The operation almost lasted for 5 hours. The doctor went out and gave them good news. Both Mr. Guevara, the driver, and his dad were safe. They were transferred both to the VIP room while they are waiting for consciousness.

Around lunch time, her mom's secretary brought them something to eat but they couldn't digest anything at that time. She was watching her dad. The bandage around his head is worrying her. There are some stitches also in different parts of his body, the doctors had difficulty removing the piece of glass that almost hit his heart. His head doesn't look to be in a good condition too.

Time was passing so slow. Her mom asked her to go home and get some rest, but she can't leave her dad at that state. She wanted to stay with him until he wakes up.

"Can I stay here mom?" She pleaded.

"Okay. But what about the things that you need to do? You've been stuck here for half a day. Don't you need to inform your management, friends?" Klasy's jaw dropped. She hasn't contacted Theo. She also was not able to say goodbye to her friends.

She turned on her phone and messages kept coming in. She read all that came from Theo. She felt that he's trying hard to understand why she turned off her phone. He sent a lot of words of encouragement which really made her smile. She never though he has this side.

She was about to dial his number, but he already sent a video call request. She saw that he's already in the plane.

"I'm sorry, Theo. I didn't mean to just disappear like that." She said in a low tone.

"No need to be sorry, love. I was concerned, that's all. Not being able to talk to you knowing that you are carrying that much weight is driving me insane. How are you? How's your dad?" He took a deep sigh. He's taking care of every word to tell her.

She watched him from the screen. It was low quality but he still looks perfect. She can't believe that even in this hard situation, she is falling deep in love with him.

" WE are waiting for dad to gain consciousness. This is the first time he was operated on. To be honest, I am really worried. What is he can't recognized us?" That made her voice broke.

He watched her hoping he could hug her already.

"Everything will be alright. I am amazed how strong you are, truly, Klasy." She smiled but on queue her tears fell.

"I need to be strong. Thank you, Theo. I don't know why talking to you feels so comforting. I can see you're in the plane now. Will you be here anytime soon?" She sbecame clingy. Seeing him made her crcave for some hug.

"The plane is about to take off, love. I will be there as soon as I can. I'll bring you food if you haven't eaten yet. Anything you're craving?" She smiled hearing that endearment. She really loves him, she does with her whole heart. It was the perfect endearment for them. Something they didn't talk about, but she agreed, she loved to be called that.

"No I cannot digest anything at this moment."

"Okay, I'll bring you something you cannot resist then. See you in a while, Klasy."

There are unavoidable moments in life, those that will put you on your knees sometimes. How lovely it is to find someone who will stick with you during those rough times, someone who will make the weight more bearable, someone who can make your heart calm in the middle of storm. It is lovely to have someone you call your own person.
