A sigh of relief escaped Florina's bow shaped lips, glad that she is done for the day. looking up at the wall clock, seeing the time made her gather her things with speed.
" Florina, you're not going to eat dinner with us?" Rossie, one of her co workers. Her dark brown eyes eyeing me with curiosity, her straight black hair dancing in the air due to the ceiling fan just above her and of course her glowing brown skin. A typical Filipina beauty.
I shook my head " No, I'm going somewhere" putting the remaining stuff in my bag.
" I know you're going on a date with that police officer!" A big teasing grin plastered on her friend's face, Boni.
" Shhhhh" I grinned back and hurried to the door. I could hear their annoying giggle in the distance.
She was standing on the side of the road when the sound of a rusty old car lingered in her ears. their shipping car stopped a few feet away from her and a tall figure came out.
" Hi Flor" I rolled my eyes and did not respond
" Having a bad day today?" I'm always having a bad day every time I see you. I stared at him dead in the eye, he has on this very dirty red shirt with holes in it due to all the carrying that his doing paired with denim pants and slippers, he drives the car that ships shoes and sandals from one shop to another. So technically he's my co worker.
" It's six in the evening you're not going to eat dinner with your friends?" I still did not respond, but despite my silence the happy smile that made his chinky eyes disappear did not falter. I could smell his sweat coming out of his dark brown skin. I stared at him with disgust, ghad! I hate everything about him. He's just not pleasing to my eyes.
" Marcelo, what are you still doing there come and carry all this stuff to the car!" he jumped and ran to the way that he should have gone earlier.
" Bye Flor"
not long after that a tricycle stopped in front of me, I went inside and told him my destination.
Putting on a little bit of lipstick on my lips and giving myself a nervous glance in the mirror. Wearing my floral beige dress, my wavy hair tied into a low bun, and the sandal that I made. I look ok, I hope so. A lot of people said that I'm beautiful with my milky pale skin, A charcoal black wavy hair, with round asian eyes, and a bow shaped lips but those things didn't stop me from feeling nervous for my first date with Rodrigo.
A knock at the door echoed through the living room which cut me off of my trance, When I opened the door his handsome smile is the first thing I saw making his dimples appear. Wearing a black polo and a denim pants, his hair gelled in the right places. I looked up at him and gave him a shy smile.
" Rodrigo"
" Florina, wow you look amazing!" him eyeing me from head to toe made me blush and shifted a little bit.
" You don't look bad yourself" I whispered but just enough for him to hear it. For a moment we stared at each other shyly, until he broke the silence and led me to his car.
We stopped at a restaurant which I haven't been before, of course I haven't, I couldn't afford this kind of eatery.
We sat and talked about our personal lives which is going smoothly until my eyes landed on the door. I looked at the person who went in with confusion, my face crumbled of the sight of him.
" Are you ok?" feeling a hand on top of mine, I smiled at him and nodded
" Yeah!, I just saw some...thing unpleasant" he chuckled and proceeded with his story but not letting go of my hand. Our conversation lasted longer than expected, cause the waiter went at our table and asked us if she could clean our table now since they are closing, That made me and Rodrigo laugh because we were so engross with our conversation we didn't noticed the time.
But my eyes noticed something or rather someone from the corner who was carrying a bucket with a mop in his hand, a broom and a dust pan on the other. He didn't saw me earlier but now he did. His smile only went half way when he saw I was with someone, he nodded at me, looked at his hand and proceeded cleaning the floor.
Marcelo.
