Raiden looked up as he heard the woman he loved in peril. He followed the horror that echoed through the halls and his mind, with his heart still heavy from his Uncle and now this, the woman that saved him, he shuddered to think what made her yell such a blood-curdling scream.
“Brigette!” he yelled out as if to tell her he was on his way as if to reassure her he had an army at his back ready to slice down anyone in his path.
“Did that come from the cells?” Miles asked as he made his way through the guard holding his bleeding arm.
They ran through the halls without saying another word. They knew what the other was thinking, get Bridgette and kill Sheamus and Coffrey. As they passed the rooms they heard a faint grunt and a crash.
“Go to Bridgette,” Miles said as he headed toward the majesty’s chamber. “I’ll handle this!” He twisted an ax in one hand and held his dagger in the other, with one motion he swiftly kicked the door open. “Agneta!” he threw his weapons down and ran to her side to help her to her feet. “My God, what happened to you?”
“What, am I not winning any beauty contests?” she joked, spitting out blood leaning on his shoulders slowly walking to the bed.
“You look like s**t, what happened?” He placed her down and ripped his shirt to clean up the blood from her face.
“Gee, thanks.” she winced as he touched the cut above her eye. “It was Coffrey, I got a few good licks in but I was tied to a chair. Ajay managed to cut the rope before he passed out. There,” she nodded her head toward the study where Ajay, Mrs. Watson, and Calvin were hiding.
He walked over to the doors and knocked softly. “It’s okay, it’s just me, Raiden and the others went to find Bridgette. You can come out.”
“How do we know it’s just you? How do we know you won’t kill us?” A voice from inside.
“Oh, Calvin Dubois put your big boy pants on and move out of the way.” Mrs. Watson boomed her voice as she opened the door. “I knew you’d come Mr. Wiley you are my favorite.” She smiled at him and beelined toward Agneta. “Oh dear, don’t worry we’ll get you right as rain, and some tea.” She nodded her head and patted Agneta’s hand as she smiled.
“I will stay here, I don’t know if Sheamus has more followers or where they’re hiding,” Miles said as he made his way to the bowl of water by the vanity and dipped in his shirt.
They could still make out faint footsteps running through the halls by the many men who still followed Raiden. It was echoing throughout the kingdom, some hid in silence in their rooms, and others were still trapped in the grand ballroom unsure of their fate. One thing remained, that the prince would keep fighting until he couldn’t anymore.
Raiden reached the door and immediately ran into it with his shoulder, it didn't budge. He rams it again, but he gets the same result. Jasper reached Raiden before he could rush it again and laid his hand on his shoulder to move him aside.
“Sheamus, open this door.” Jasper roared
“Don’t you dare hurt her, or I’ll have your head!” Raiden stepped in front of Jasper and banged his fist on the door. “There’s no way out, I will ram this door in, and then I will cut you both down!”
“No way out?” Coffrey looked at Sheamus wrinkling his forehead.
“Of course, there’s a way out, there’s always a way out,” Sheamus whispered back holding Bridgette’s mouth, and crouched down.
“No, the cells were the one place made with no way out, if you paid more attention in school you’d know that,” Raiden remarked as he motioned for the men to find something to break down the door. “What have you done with her?”
Sheamus lifted his hand and Bridgette let out a huge sigh. “Raiden” was the only thing he let her say.
“Oh, my love, I'm here!” He replied, banging his fist on the door once more.
“Well, King of nothing, it seems we’re at a cross,” Sheamus stood up with Bridgette. “If you come through that door my cousin and I will surely die, and your love will die as well, you will cut us down but as I am fond of my head and my guts to stay where they are, we will come to a deal.”
“A deal?” Raiden hit the door and laid his head upon it.
“I call Principalays” Sheamus smiled crookedly which prompted Coffrey to yell the same.
“Principalays?” Jasper repeated to Raiden c*****g his head to one side.
Raiden takes in a deep breath, “It is an old rule when this kingdom first came to be, if this is called then the ones who invoked it will be judged by the council.” Raiden put his head down and moved away from the door.
“Surely the council will see them guilty and kill them.” Jasper smiled.
“One would think, but no you see the council doesn’t trouble themselves with men only that of Monarchs and since he is not a monarch then he shall have to battle to become one.”
“You would have to fight Sheamus?”
“I would have to battle both, and if one or both prevail then they shall be the ruler and be judged. They would be rulers until a suitable one comes to the council.”
“Raiden”
“You have your Principalays, come out we battle at dawn,” Raiden yelled as he issued his men to move aside. “Those that lay a hand on the ones that call Principalays shall be struck down”
The door slowly opened and Bridgette was held in front of the men like a shield.
“We’ll hold on to your lady love, just to ensure our safety.” Coffrey laughed as he walked behind Sheamus.
The guard, Raiden, and Jasper moved to the side of the wall as Sheamus and Coffrey headed away from the jail cell and down the corridor, Raiden looked at one of his guards and nodded his head to follow. It was hard to watch the love of his life being dragged away by two brutes not knowing what would happen.
“Shuntha” yelled out Raiden as he entered the jail, hitting the wall with his fist. “Why are you not with your followers? Surely they gave you the keys to get out!”
“Shuntha does not know those men, nor do I trust them.” he came closer to the bars and held out the keys in his hand.
Raiden snatched them away and hung them back up on the wall looking down as a huge sigh came off his full lips.
Jasper rushed in, “Shuntha right? What did those men want? What were they talking about?”
“They want to find Queen Yolandi to bring the other Prince and Princess here,” he remarks with a grin, as he turns his back toward them walking toward the wall.
“Well, where is she? Did you tell them? What are you keeping?” Jasper asked frantically, shaking the steel bars.
“Come, Jasper, he knows nothing.” Raiden tugs on his shoulder as they head back to the Majesty’s chamber.
“Oh, no, you can not do that!” Mrs. Watson proclaimed as Raiden caught everyone up about the upcoming fight.
“He has to, it’s the law.” Agneta stepped up next to Clara putting her hand on her shoulder.
“Screw the law!” Miles barked in a gruff tone, “You’re king, change the rules!”
“It’s not that simple,” Raiden sat down in the big purple chair and put his head in his hands. “If I want to pass a law it must go through the council and all have to agree. I can’t just make laws, and technically I’m not yet king.” His voice trails off as Agneta steps closer and puts her hand on his shoulder.
“Our tradition is before a prince can become king he must marry.’’
“We’re getting away from the problem at hand!” Jasper exclaimed “Raiden still has to battle 2 owsen at dawn!
