Cleo
Eric and I had been at the Lightning Ridge pack for a week now. We had begun our morning training sessions with the pack warriors. It had been brutal. I had been using muscles I had never know I had. After one week of training, I hurt. I was laying on my bed and every part of me ached. I couldn’t move. I literally felt like I had been hit by a truck.
A quiet knock sounded on my door, then a second later the door opened. Eric poked his head in the door, and grinning he said, “Oh good, you’re awake.”
“I hurt. Everything hurts,” I groaned, before fake crying.
Eric laughed as he stepped into my room. “You did well to get through the week. The more you train the easier it will get,” he assured me.
“Oh. You mean we have to do all that again?” I huffed. “I can’t do that again Eric. If you make me, then by this time next week I will be dead,” I told him.
“Cleo, need I remind you that you were the one who stuck it to the Alpha and told him this was what you wanted to do?” Eric asked.
“I didn’t know it was going to be this hard,” I admitted.
“Well… if pack warrior training was easy then everybody would be a warrior wouldn’t that. A warrior’s life is for those who possess that something extra,” he said, moving to take a seat on the edge of my bed.
“So… how long until it doesn’t feel like I have been hit by a truck?” I asked him, groaning in pain.
“Oh, it will be a while,” he replied. “Plus, with your body still healing from the assault, you have copped a double whammy.”
“I know. It sucks…” I groaned, as I went to roll onto my back.
Eric laughed and said, “Well, at least you have the next two days off. We don’t train on the weekends.”
“Well, thank the Moon Goddess for that,” I whispered.
“How about I cook you some breakfast?” Eric asked.
My eyes flew to his face, “You? Cook? Na uh,” I said, groaning as I struggled to get on to my feet. Once I was standing, I hobbled out of my room and downstairs heading for the kitchen. Eric followed behind me, not saying a word.
Once we were in the kitchen, he said, “Hey, I offered to cook for you. You don’t have to cook.”
“You would burn the house down. And call me crazy, but I have grown to like this place,” I replied.
Eric grinned, before saying, “It is a pretty cool place, isn’t it?”
“It is. How many teenagers get to live in a place like this with someone else bank rolling the expenses associated with the house?” I asked him.
“I would say not very many,” he replied.
I started cooking breakfast. I cooked up bacon, eggs, and sausages. I was in the middle of cooking breakfast when there was a knock on the front door. Eric walked over to the door and opened it. The alpha was standing in the doorway, there was someone else with him, but Erics body was obscuring my view of that person. I put my attention back onto the task of cooking the sausages and bacon.
Eric walked inside with the Alpha in tow. “Smells good in here,” the Alpha said before he took a seat at the dining table.
“It does, doesn’t it?” Eric replied, joining the Alpha at the table.
“I just wanted to stop by and let you both know that starting Monday, I need you to start attending classes. It is imperative that you both continue to get an education,” The Alpha said.
I looked over at Eric, but instead of looking at Eric, I found that the other person who had entered the house with the Alpha was watching me intently. He was tall, with brown hair and a healthy tan. His eyes were a beautiful shade of blue and he was strong, like… really strong. I tore my gaze away from his and continued cooking breakfast. I removed the bacon and the sausages from the pan and began cracking eggs into the pan. I cooked the eggs and once they were ready, I removed them from the pan. I served up four plates of food and hobbled over to the table, setting the plates on the table in front of each of the people seated at the table. I then went back and grabbed my plate and carried it to the table. I took my seat and Eric said the blessing to the Moon Goddess and we all began eating. I looked up and noticed that the unknown house guest was looking at me again, but this time, he had a look of annoyance upon his face.
I ignored him and began eating my breakfast. “So, Cleo, I thought it would be a good time for you and Eric to meet my son, Asher. He will be the next Alpha of the pack.”
