Evan's POV
Within the next few weeks, I told Frank we needed to meet. He was happy to hear from me. I even asked how Danny was doing. He's still as stubborn as a mule.
Frank: What did you want to talk to me about?
Me: Uncle I want to upgrade our deal.
Frank: *raises both eyebrows* Why's that?
Me: I feel I can take the weight off your shoulders.
Frank: Explain.
Me: With all due respect Danny is never going to do what you want him to. Why not give me a chance to run your company?
Frank: Why do you want mine? You already have your own.
Me: Why were you trying to push Danny to take over?
Frank: *leans back in his chair* I still want my business.
Me: How much are you willing to let it go for?
Frank: Give me $2 million.
Me: Deal.
Frank: Then it's settled.
He got up from his seat. Why did I try to buy his company? For sure it's not worth $2 million, but without his business he is nothing. He will no longer hold any deals over anyone's heads. Danny would be free, and Samantha would no longer be blackmailed. He always forgets everything once money is there. He gives me the paperwork. I start making phone calls to redecorate it the space making this a second showroom. After arranging everything for the next few months, I stop by Danny's job.
His coworkers give me a seductive look as I walk to his office. I could hear them gossiping. It's nice feeling wanted sexually, but there's only one person's feelings I care about — my fiance. Never thought my uncle would be a good matchmaker but he nailed it with this one. I caught Danny in the middle of grading some assignments. *knock knock knock* He looks up at me. With an angry tone, "What do YOU want?"
Me: Cousin, I know we haven't been on good terms, but I want to say that it's over.
Danny: What's over?
Me: I bought uncle's company. You're free to do what you want.
Danny: I've always been free.
Me: *laughs pointing at his wound* That doesn't look like free to me.
Danny: What about Samantha?
Me: What about her?
Danny: Aren't you letting her go?
Me: I'm not holding her hostage. She chose to stay.
Danny: I find it hard to believe.
Me: Stop by my house and ask her yourself.
Danny: Fine. Was that all?
Me: Pretty much. I want things between us to be good again.
Not wanting to hear what else he was going to say I decided to leave. I needed him to hear my piece.
Samantha's POV
School is becoming harder. Luckily life outside of it is easier. Lila has been coming over to study together. Evan and I have been taking turns making dinner. He's been good about getting what I need like picking up my vitamins making sure I take it daily.
Since living with Evan, I guess Danny found out. It was only a matter of time. His class continued on, but I can tell his heart had changed from his tone. Other classmates cheered him on with the engagement with Erica. He didn't bother talking to me after class either. The minute class ended he would pack up and leave before I had a chance to say anything. He never responded back to my emails unless it was questions about class. I decided to close the book on that chapter. Doing what Danny tried to do for so long which is move on.
After reading through my chapters, I took a quick break. Tonight we were going to have homemade pizza and lasagna. Evan finally comes home greeting me with a kiss on my forehead. Getting himself ready for dinner then bed. "This is delicious. You made this yourself?" I smiled feeling my cheeks flush with a rosy color. "Yes. I wanted to impress you." He held my hand squeezing it a bit. "How did I get so lucky? Don't answer that." We both laughed.
Me: I was thinking maybe I should get another job.
Evan: *giving me a piercing look* No, you're not going back to work as a stripper.
Me: I didn't say that. *thinking it though* Maybe I could help you out at your company.
Evan: *excited by the idea* If that's what you want I wouldn't mind you coming in. How much do you have saved up anyway?
Me: $40,000. At the time I was trying to buy myself a car. Danny drove me to school before I moved in with you.
Evan: You don't like me driving you around?
Me: It's not that. You're busy all the time. I want to feel independent not relying on you for everything.
Evan: We'll go when you have a break at school. Don't want you to stress out the baby.
We continue our dinner. I can see myself growing into something more. I needed to learn to help myself first before becoming someone's wife. Being with Evan makes me want to become a better person. Not only for myself but for him and our children.
