"C'mon you're leaving with me." Danny was anything but happy. I thought he'd be happy to see me... Maybe if I wasn't watching Evan having s*x. He grabbed my wrist, and I followed almost tripping. What did you expect? Evan coming out of the room. You guys barely know each other. I thought to myself. The grip on my wrist got tighter; I winced taking a step back. Danny gave me his shirt that looked like a dress on me while he was topless in jeans.
He inserted the key turning on the car, breathing in slowly then exhaling. I was expecting a calm voice; instead he threw at me, "Where were you? I was looking all over for you all night!" Thrown off by the how he said it my thoughts came running out. "You have no right to be upset with me! You made me look like a fool while you stood on that stage happy as a clown while your mother announced that the two of you were engaged." I was waiting for some witty comment. I received silence instead. I wasn't sure if I was winning this fight but I wanted to go home to California.
He shook his head, putting on his sunglasses then getting ready to drive away. The car ride was about an hour. An hour of silence. When we finally reached the witch's house, he got out of the car and getting into the house by himself. I followed as this was my chance to change into something decent then eat some food. As soon as I walked in, I heard from behind me, "I heard you're leaving now. Safe travels. Let me get the door for you." She quickly ran down the stairs entering the bedroom Danny, and I shared grabbing my luggage. "I got it. That was so kind of you to help but don't." She dropped my luggage walking away with her head held high. "Don't ever set foot in this house again." Agreed, mumbling to myself.
I quickly switched into one of the most outfits I packed. Shortly after Danny came into the room notioning me to pick up the pace so we could leave. Both of us packed up we headed toward the car that looked like Evan might have owned. He didn't say a word to me unless he had to. It was frustrating trying to figure out what's on his mind. When we got to our gate at the airport, I decided I should break the silence.
Me: I can't wait to be back home.
Danny: Same.
Me: Talk to me! *forces him to look at me* I can't and won't stand for this.
Danny: Won't stand for what? You ran off.
Me: You got engaged! What did you think I was going to do? Cheer you on?
Danny: I thought you'd give me a chance to explain considering the s**t she pulled during dinner.
Me: Yeah, why don't you explain why you were so f*****g happy?!
Danny: I didn't want that and you know it.
Me: Tell me what really happened after. I doubt you 'looked for me all night.'
Danny: You know what fine! Erica and I hooked up.
My jaws dropped, and I was speechless. Maybe this was a sign that what we had, or what I thought we had, was never going to progress into anything. I had reached my breaking point and told him, "Once we get back to our apartment I'm going to search for another place to stay." I looked away not wanting to see the expression on his face when I told him that. I moved my stuff to sit closer to the line that would soon be forming.
