CHAPTER 06 (Heath almost loses sit)

Me: can you please act your age

Thandi: i am acting my age

She says laughing.

Me: I see you want that girl Lerato to stab me huh

Thandi: I would like to see her try shame

Me: will you please stop, Heath doesn't see me like that ok…no man sees me like that

Thandi: says who

She says that with a frown on her face and I ignore her.

Me: James

He turns and looks at me.

Me: Thandi says you two can go and talk right now

Thandi gives me an evil eye and I laugh.

James: ooh for real

Me: yeah, right Thandi

She shows me the middle finger and I stick my tongue out at her and James stands up, yho I guess he's desperate to talk to her.

James: Let's go T

Thandi: I’ll get you for this

She says to me and I laugh a bit.

Me: I love you too

Well she's been ignoring him since he got here because my crazy friend thinks maybe he got bad news for her like maybe he has some STI or HIV because apparently they had unprotected s*x three weeks ago after they gave in to lust for each other when she went to drop off their kids at his house.

(HEATH'S POV)

"You will let me know if you need anything".....you will let me know if you need anything". That’s what I said to her aarg, out of all the things I could have said to her I had to say that, i mean she’s sitting next to her friend ( my cousin). For God’s sake, of course she’ll tell her if she needs anything and not me aarg. I feel someone shake me and I look up and it's lerato.

Lerato: are you ok

I just nod.

Lerato: are you sure

Me: yeah

I say that and take a sip of my drink, i swear this girl is driving me insane. Well I look at where she is sitted and now she's talking with some guy and she's busy laughing and Thandi is nowhere in sight. I keep on looking at her and she's even blushing and I feel my blood boil instantly so I clench my jaws.

Lerato: my love i'm tired and i'm sure the baby is also tired let’s just go home

Last night after I got home, she dropped a bomb on me that I was actually expecting in a way. She told me that she’s pregnant and to tell you the truth, I wish she wasn’t pregnant because that would make it easy for me to end things with her, but now there’s a baby on the way and I just can’t handle another miscarriage even though I wish she wasn’t pregnant.

Me: i'm not ready to leave lerato

Lerato: but baby I want to rest, your baby is tired

Aarg this girl is annoying.

Me: fine I’ll go drop you off at your parents' house and I’ll come pick you up tomorrow

She sulks.

Lerato: why? no I want us to go home to Heath because this party is boring please

I am getting annoyed now.

Me: see, it's either we stay and enjoy the party or I drop you off at your parents’ house period!

She sulks some more and she looks away.

Me: so?

She keeps quiet.

Me: i'm waiting

Lerato: whatever I’ll call someone to come pick me up since this stupid party is more important than me and your unborn child

She clicks her tongue and I look at her with my jaws clenched. I gulp down my drink and I stand up and walk away before I slap her rotten mouth with the back of my hand. I go inside and I find the grandparents sitting in the lounge drinking tea with other elders of the family, trust old people with a cup of tea.

Granny: Shaka

It's what my grandparents call me so I turn and look at her.

Granny: are you ok

Me: I’m ok gogo (granny)

She sighs and nods and I go to their bedroom because it has an en-suit since they locked the one on the passage and I take a leak then I wash my hands and walk out and Lerato isn't sitting where I left her. I walk outside the yard to look for her and she's on the phone talking to someone while sobbing. I stand behind her since she is looking the other way and she cant see me.

Lerato: can you believe he chose to stay at this useless stupid party instead of going home with me. I mean who throws a 100 year old person a party. I mean he's close to his grave, they should be preparing for his funeral and not waste money on a stupid party. Anyway, please come pick me up

Then she listens.

Lerato: I know ok but right now looking at him makes me want to puke, so I need to get away from all these useless drunkards before they contaminate me with their poverty and their bad luck. I mean even that albino b***h he once shouted at me for is here, now this yard is full of poverty-stricken individuals and cursed bitches left right and center. What if looking at her and I end up giving birth to an albino child, I can't yho i couldn’t even eat the food because i'm sure she helped cook

She listens again and by this time my anger and disappointment is skyrocketing.

Learto: mxm I don’t even understand why he's mingling with this useless and hungry cousins of his I mean he should be hanging out with people of his status, sometimes Heath just disappoints me. The guy is filthy rich but he still behaves like a pauper

She listens again and I just shake my head with disbelief. Why on earth did I stay this long with this thing, two years people…two fucken years and I tolerated all this s**t. I'm sure she bewitched me, I'm telling you.

Lerato: ok hurry up KG because I cant even breath here even the air is contaminated

Mmmh so she's talking to her sister, then she ends the call and as soon as she turns she freezes with her eyes popped out.

Me: this….this thing between us, this sham of a thing between us is over lerato. I can't believe I tolerated all this s**t for two fucken years, i don’t even know who you are and to think I was gonna propose to you. Wee i'm glad you showed me your true colours

I shake my head and i walk inside the yard leaving her with tears running down her cheek. Anyway I go back to my sit and I take my glass and pour my whiskey and I gulp it down at once then I pour another one in and also gulp it down.

Jabu: are you ok bro

Me: I’ll be fine

He nods and I see him look behind me so I also turn to look.

Lerato: ba….bay i'm..i'm sorry ple…

I raise my hand up indicating that she should shut up.

Me: go and wait for your sister outside the yard

Lerato: Heath please

Me: I SAID GO AND WAIT FOR YOUR FUCKEN SISTER OUTSIDE THE YARD OR ARE YOU DEAF!

I shout and everyone looks at me.

Me: WHAT?

I say to them and they look away then Jabu stands up.

Jabu: Lerato leave before you regret it because this guy here is angry now

Well she should listen to him because he knows the real me and how I get when I lose it.

Lerato: my love please let us go somewhere private and talk please

Me: f**k OFF LERATO, f**k OFF.... DIDN’T I SAY GO WAIT FOR YOUR SISTER OUTSIDE THE YARD OR YOU WANT ME TO DRAG YOU OUT!

I roar with anger, Lerato should just leave now because if I get up from this chair she’ll curse the day she met me. Well Jabu pulls her away and I pour another whiskey into my glass and I gulp it down. After some time Jabu comes back.

Jabu: lets go

I stand up and I look towards Naledi and she's still talking to that guy and my anger hit the rooftop. My hands are even shaking. Anyway, we go to the back of the house and Jabu rolls a joint and lights it and he gives it to me.

Jabu: take so you can calm down before you kill someone.
