He was seeing the Kith through new eyes, and they were hers. The house was full of soft music, carols and orchestral classics threading through hidden speakers. The trees glittered with ornaments and each room held at least some tinsel; candles burned in glass hurricane lamps, little flames ready to stand vigil today, tonight, and into Christmas morning. The massive grandfather clock on the first floor was festooned with silver strands and tiny red glass decorations; the ballroom was already open and its floor was a mellow shining plain.
