Pepper Light filtered in through a nearby window and danced across Rhett’s face, illuminating his hair. He looked peaceful in his slumber, and I could’ve lied there for hours watching him. But after a few moments, I realized his face was covered in blood and my body ached. Memories of what had happened flooded my mind, and I jolted upright.
