“Oh! Of course!” I raced to the sink, filled a glass, and went back to him. I held it up to his lips, and he took a drink. “Just a little for now. We need to see how your stomach handles it. You were badly injured.” I moved the cup away, but he reached up and grasped my wrist, and held it in place while he finished the glass. Once it was empty, he released me and dropped his arm back down on the bed. He closed his eyes and inhaled. I watched him for what felt like an eternity as my heart pounded in my ears. My hand shook, and I gripped the glass, trying not to drop it. I put the cup on the nightstand and turned back to him. His eyes were open, surveying me. They were light blue behind thick black lashes. I froze, and my heartbeat pounded in my ears. Say something! But nothing came out
